Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi speaking at the function in Pune

Pune: RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi stressed the need to connect education with the internal and external samskars. Addressing a function organised by ‘Swa’-Roopwardhinee at Abha Saheb Garvare College auditorium on December 3, he said the founder of the ‘Swa’-Roopwardhinee are Shri Kishabhau Patwardhan and Shri Krishna Lakshman. Shri Bhaiyaji said Wardhinee has been working for the upliftment of neglected sections of the society for the last 40 years. Noted scientist Shri R.A. Mashelkar presided over the function. The inaugural ceremony of the birth centenary of Shri Kishabhau witnessed an exhibition on the activities of the Wardhinee.

As part of the birth centenary celebration the ‘Swa’-Roopwardhinee has adopted five ‘Sankalps’ which are to be taken up during the birth centenary year. The first point in the Five Sankalps is the compilation of a book based on the stories of 100 boys and girls whose life changed due to the Wardhinee and Shri Kishabhau. The second point is to start a movement to enrol the maximum number of needy students to school under the Right to Education Act. Third point is to find the guardians for 100 students studying in different projects of the Wardhinee. Fourth point is to start a scheme to promote the talented students of different communities. And the fifth point is to start a hostel for the students who come to Pune for the preparation of their competitive exams.

Shri R.A. Mashelkar expressed his best wishes for fulfilment of these five pledges during the birth centenary year. He said Kishabhau was not an individual but an institution. He said the whole country will witness development if we are able to improve the condition of the deprived sections of the society. In fact, this was the main motivation of Kishabhau behind the formation of the ‘Swa’-Roopwardhinee. He said the objective of education should be the promotion of the values and this objective has to be achieved with the collective efforts of the society and the government.

Therefore, the education system should reflect the vision of the society and the nation. He said the education is directly connected to the culture. That is why we always stress on education and culture and not literacy alone. He said the change in education is not possible only through the government system. The government should formulate the education policy but the policy should be implemented on the ground by the educationists and the academic institutions.

The meeting was presided over by Vice Chancellor of Maharashtra Technology University Prof Ramshastri. Vice Chancellor of Chaudhari Bansilal Univerisity, Bhiwani, Prof RK Mittal and secretary of Shiksha Sanskrit Utthan Nyas Shri Atul Kothari were also present at the meeting.
