Nation celebrates Navy Day today: Prime Minister salutes Indian Navy

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi saluted the Indian Navy personnel on the occasion of Navy Day today.
“On Navy Day, we salute our courageous navy personnel. Their valuable service and sacrifice have made our nation stronger and safer”, the Prime Minister said.
Navy Day is celebrated in honour of the unforgettable role played by our Naval Force during the war with Pakistan in 1971. Indian warships attacked Karachi port and successfully thwarted Pakistani operations in the western coast.
The Day is also celebrated to highlight the achievements and role the Navy plays in securing the country’s marine borders.
On the eve of Navy Day yesterday, Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Karambir Singh assured the nation that the Navy is fully prepared to deal with national security challenges.
