Jammu celebrates amendment to Article 370; Schools and colleges to re-open tomorrow as situation returns to normalcy

Residents of Jammu celebrate amendment to Article 370 and reorganisation of the state
As the focus remains on the conditions in Kashmir, people in Ladakh and Jammu are celebrating central governments decisions on Article 370 and reorganisation of the state. On the day the President gave his assent to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, people of Jammu have been celebrating in public and at homes.
Life in Jammu and Kashmir has started returning to normal today. Schools and colleges re-opened in most areas including Samba and Kathua districts in Jammu region. The atmosphere is that of celebration after the amendment of article 370.
Students of the Government Degree College in Kathua expressed their happiness by waving the tricolor at the college gate. The students said that there is joy and happiness in the entire society. “Today the people of Jammu are very happy to wave and hoist this flag (Indian National Flag). This happiness that we witness today is due to the withdrawal of Article 370 and 35A due to which we now have a single flag throughout the country”, said one student.

Another student says, “Today we are really happy that we have hoisted the flag of our country and have removed the flag of the state. The amendment made to Article 370 is the harbinger of a golden future for Jammu and its people. The future of entire Jammu and Kashmir in the coming days will be written in golden letters. New employment opportunities will arrive as new factories and businesses will come. The biggest factor is the end of ‘Kashmiri Raj’, which had subjugated the entire region and due to which even the central government could not implement its programs. But now with Jammu becoming a Union Territory, the Center will be able to take a decisions on behalf of Jammu. Nationalism and love for our motherland will now spread in the entire region.”
Schools and Colleges to re-open across Jammu
With schools in Samba district re-opening today, schools and colleges in other districts of Jammu are set to be re-opened tomorrow.
Deputy Magistrate of Jammu Sushma Chauhan said, “Section 144 has been withdrawn from Jammu Municipal limits. All school, and colleges will open tomorrow.” Likewise, District Commissioner of Reasi district, Indu Kanwal Chib said the all schools and colleges in Reasi will open from tomorrow (August 10).
With Jammu, Ladakh and large parts of Kashmir returning to normalcy within a week, the curfew in the remaining areas is also set to be removed in the coming days.
