Rahul Gandhi’s repeated attempts to taunt and ridicule Modi have backfired every single time. Congress President’s yet another attempt to ridicule Modi using a non-existent word has ended with him being shamed publicly on Twitter by none other than Oxford Dictionaries.

Rahul shared an edited picture of a dictionary entry for a new word ‘Modilie’, combining PM Modi’s name with ‘lie’. Oxford Dictionaries replied that this was not true.

Yesterday, Rahul Gandhi posted a picture on twitter in which he referred to the word ‘Modilie’ while addressing Modi indirectly and wrote that ‘There’s a new word in the English Dictionary. Attached is a snapshot of the entry :)’. While Congress supporters lapped up the sly tweet, many pointed out that this was an entry in one of the user created Urban Dictionary and not an official entry.

The logo and the entry seemed like that of the official Oxford Dictionaries, which is why many especially Congress supporters took it as an entry in the Oxofrd Dictionary and started to tweet with that effect. It was only natural for many to ask the official Oxford Dictionaries to respond.

Today, Oxford Dictionaries replied to Rahul’s tweet from its official account (@OxfordWords) and wrote that ‘We can confirm that the image showing the entry ‘Modilie’ is fake and does not exist in any of our Oxford Dictionaries.’ With this the public shaming of Rahul Gandhi was complete once again. Just as his ‘aloo ki factory’, ‘Made in Dholpur, etc’, or ‘Congress stopping 99% of terror attacks’ backfired, this attempt to taunt Modi has backfired too. Sooner Rahul understands that jeering at a political opponent instead of informed debate will get him nothing but ignominy, the better for him and his party.
