– AG Shah

Gul Muhammad Mir, District vice president of BJP in Anantnag, was shot dead by terrorists on May 4th

Wars are dirty, but dirtiest of them all is the proxy war. Our country has a neighbour, too coward who has lost all its guts to fight a conventional war with India after the four humiliating defeats it faced in 1947, ‘65, ‘71 and’91. It therefore launched a dirty operation, ‘Operation Topac’ to use Kashmiri youngsters as cannon fodder, who would fight the proxy war on their behalf. Driven by the propaganda, some of the youngsters have taken an anti national stand. However, the neighbouring nation faced a humiliating defeat in the proxy war too.

Pakistan always forgets that India is the land of the brave nationalists who have never hesitate to lay down their lives for their motherland. Under a well planned sub-operation of the Operation Topac, Pakistan directed its henchmen in the Kashmir to eliminate the nationalist voices.

It started on September 14, 1989 when Pandit Tika Lal Taploo, President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Kashmir Chapter was shot dead in his locality. Since then, as many as 650 mainstream political activists have been killed by terrorists. This trend saw ups and downs many times, but after the strong action of the BJP government on terror and the success of security forces in eliminating the terrorist leadership, the frustrated survivors of the terror brigade found it more easy to attack the nationalist elements that prima facie are the soft targets.

To terrorize the nationalists and discouraging them from joining the Nationalist brigade, a young leader of the BJP, Gowher Ahmad Bhat was killed on 2 November 2016. On the intervening night of August 21 and August 22, 2018, when Kashmiris were busy in Eid preparations, a BJP activist, Shabbir Ahmad Bhat was shot dead at 2:30 AM in a village in Pulwama. Two months later, to engineer the fear psychosis beyond the South Kashmir, the orders from across the border demanded the killing of some nationalists beyond the area of South Kashmir. On 2 November 2018, BJP state secretary, Anil Parihar, hailing from Kishtwar was shot dead. His brother was too shot dead to spread the tentacles of terror even deeper. This dance of terror however did not stop here.

On April 9, this year, an RSS leader Shri. Chandrakant Sharma fell to the bullets of the terrorist brigade. Intelligence agencies have claimed that a cop turned militant, belonging to the Hizbul Mujahideen whose area of operation is otherwise Shopian district in the South Kashmir is tasked to spread the tentacles of terror beyond the tunnel, as they call it in Kashmir valley. As a part of this order, he killed the RSS leader. The intelligence agencies have further mentioned that the terrorists, four in number, are roaming in the forests of Kishtwar and are conspiring to kill some more nationalists, including one top BJP leader of the area.

While the news of Chandrakant Sharma’s killing was still fresh, BJP’s district Vice President Anantnag, Ghulam Mohammad Mir, a 60 year old was shot dead in his house on Saturday night. Since this day, there have been thousands of nationalist voices that have been silenced by the barrels of the gun, on the orders of terror perpetrators from across the border, but as a Kashmiri, what I have observed is that every time any nationalist voice is silenced, the condemnation brigade locks both its lips and its fingers. Otherwise on an encounter day, my social media feed looks no less than a battle field, condemning the killings of terrorists and criticising the security forces.

Ghulam Mohammad Mir is another nationalist voice in the valley finished by the terrorists. Hope the people who cried & wrote columns after column for Burhan Wani & his terrorist gang will take trouble to write at least a tweet for this sane voice from the valley. The condemnation brigade needs to know that the terror consumes everything that is around. It does not differentiate between who is supporting it and who is not. Today, you might be an indirect supporter or a silent spectator to the terror, tomorrow you can be a potential target, who’s going to write for you then?
