CPM leaders disconnected the power supply to a temple after bhajans from the temple annoyed their party leader and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
As a part of the election campaign for LDF candidate A Sampath, Vijayan was speaking at an election rally in Kattakkata, Attingal parliament constituency. The devotees were singing Bhajans at the Mudippura temple on the auspicious day of Vishu, Hindu New Year in Kerala. Expressing his annoyance, the chief minister stopped his speech in the middle and asked his party workers about the prayer chanting. As the chief minister looked angry over their explanation, CPM leaders including former MLA V Sivankutty and sitting MLA I B Sathish Kumar came out of the stage, trespassed into the temple, and disconnected the power supply to the sound system. The CPM leaders did not allow the media persons to report the incident.
Pinarayi Vijayan and other Communist leaders have allegedly developed a sense of antipathy towards Ayyappa mantra and Hindu prayer chanting after the Sabarimala movement.
