However, China has shocked the world with reiterating its stand on Islamic terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed and its chief Maulana Masood Azhar.
Condemning the terror attack in Pulwama, Beijing said: “China has noted the reports of suicide terrorist attack. We are deeply shocked by this attack. We express deep condolences and sympathy to the injured and bereaved families.”
On being asked about China’s stand on the listing Masood Azhar as a global terrorist by the UN Security Council, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang told the media that “As for the issue of listing, I could tell you that the 1267 Committee of Security Council has a clear stipulation on the listing and procedure of the terrorist organisations”.
China has been repeatedly blocking efforts by India and other UN Security Council members to list Masood Azhar as a UN-designated terrorist.
What Communist Party of India (Marxist) said about Pulwama terror attack?
The politburo of the CPI (M) has issued a statement condemning the attack. Social media point out apparent similarities between the statements of the CPM and China, for example, both China and the CPM deliberately refrained from naming JeM and Pakistan in their statements.
As usual, the CPM did not raise ‘P’ word. There was a scant mention about Pakistan or any terrorist group that perpetrated the heinous attack. Instead of criticising the Islamic terrorists and Pakistan, Sitaram Yechury and his party held the Modi Government responsible for the attack and urged the Government to shun violence and talk peace with terrorists!
Moreover, the statement was replete with political criticism of Narendra Modi and the BJP Government. The CPM, that resorts to revenge politics and brutal killings in Kerala, did not forget to preach peace and non-violence to the government, saying “Violence is not the answer to resolve issues which require the engagement of all stakeholders in the state.” The party also urged the Government to initiate a dialogue with the terrorist groups, terming them ‘stakeholders’!
“The Modi government had promised, three years ago, to initiate a political process involving all stakeholders through a dialogue. This has not happened. This must be done immediately,” it further added.
