Gautam Buddha Nagar: Department of Political Science and International Relations at Gautam Buddha University (GBU) organised a two-day Seminar on ‘Indic Perspective on International Relations’. National organising secretary of ABVP Shri Sunil Ambekar, Prof. Ashwini Mohapatra of JNU and Vice Chancellor of GBU Prof. Bhagwati Prakash Sharma addressed the inaugural session. Dean of Social Sciences Dr Neeti Rana and HoD of Political Science Dr Vivek Mishra welcomed the dignitaries. It was followed by a plenary session with a panel of scholars comprising of Dr Shailendra Raj Mehta of MICA, Dr Shakti Sinha of Nehru Memorial Library and Prof Harsh Pant of Kings College, London.

Second day began by a plenary talk by Organiser editor Shri Prafulla Ketkar. At concluding session, Member Secretary of IGNCA Dr Sachidananda Joshi spoke on the key concepts of International Relations and their prevalence in Indic context in a more value-added manner thereby clearly setting the stage for the need to develop an Indic perspective not just for ourselves but the world at large.
The speakers agreed upon the need to establish a cogent ‘Indic’ perspective on International Relations as India has always been a vibrant power with global engagements since times immemorial. Therefore, the view that India has nothing to contribute to International Relations, largely a Western-dominated discipline, is a misnomer that calls for an immediate revision and recalibration. But for that the scholars of International Relations must be geared up to do some original research that traces our historical sources of engagement with the world.
