Musical tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat on his 150th birth anniversary by top artists of the country
New Delhi: About 400 top artists of the country assembled at Kala Sanskriti Sangam from October 4 to 6 at Rajghat and collectively paid musical tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary. The event also apprised Delhiites of the rich cultural heritage of the country.
 
 
Prior to the beginning of the main function titled as Sanskrti Kala Sangam, a painting exhibition was inaugurated by CCRT chairperson Dr Hemlata S. Mohan. The Exhibition displayed over 100 paintings dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. Director General of National Gallery of Modern Arts (MGMA) Shri Adwaita Gadanayak and many other senior artists were also present. The Exhibition remained open till October 6 from 11.00 am to 9.00 pm. Some books and handicraft items were also displayed at the Exhibition premises. Prior to Dhrupad performance by Padmashri Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar, a brief question answer session was organised where the audience asked some questions about the event. The presentation by Shri Dagar was thrilling. RSS Sah Sarkarayvah Shri Suresh Soni was also present. Chairman of the Sangeet Natak Academy Padmashri Shekhar Sen presided over the function. Folk singer Malini Awasthi also joined.

On second day, Santoor presentation by Padmashri Pandit Bhajan Sopori and his son Shri Abhay Sopori was highly touching. Prior to the presentation, a special discussion was held on cultural heritage of the nation. Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Dr Mahesh Sharma was the chief guest. Member Secretary of Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts Dr Sachidanand Joshi was also present. The painting exhibition drew lot of visitors on second day also.

The last day of the Sangam witnessed touching performances by top artists of the country in all eight recognised classical dance forms. Union Minister of Foreign Affairs Smt Sushma Swaraj was the chief guest. These presentations included Bharatnatyam by Padmabhushan Dr Saroja Vaidyanathan, Kuchipudi by Padmashri Raja Radha Reddy, Odishi by Padmashri Dr Ranjana Gauhar, Kathak by Sushri Kamalini, Kathkali by Guru Jagdishan, Mohiniattam by Smt Jayprabha Menon, Manipuri by Smt Khulna Sahni and Satriya by the students of Dr Bhabanand Borbayan. The artists of Udan presented a play (Kalagi) and also group songs. It was followed by the Rajasthani folk songs by a team of Sukhvinder and Haryanavi.
New Team of Sanskar Bharati

New Delhi: The national general body meeting of Sanskar Bharati was held on October 6. The meeting reviewed the last years activities and planned activities for the next year. The new team of the Sanskar Bharati for the year 2018 to 2021 was also elected during the general body meeting. Shri Vasudev Kamath will be the president while Shri Amirchand is the new general secretary. Shri Bankelal Gaur, Shri Suresh Bindal, Dr Hemlata S. Mohan and Dr Premlata Gurumurthy are the new vice presidents. Baba Yogendraji and Shri Rajdutt are the patrons. Shri Ganesh Rode is the new organising secretary

Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included RSS Sahsarkaryavah Dr Krishna Gopal, Sanskar Bharati patron Padmashri Baba Yogendra, Urban Development Minister of Madhya Pradesh Smt Maya Singh and director of Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti Shri Dipankar Shri Gyan. Also, noted film director Shri Subhash Ghai, script writer Shri Kamlesh Pandey and film director Shri Chandra Prakash Dwivedi were present. Rajya Sabha MP Shri RK Sinha welcomed the gathering.
