Five Keralites from Kannur, including women, have been arrested in Saudi Arabia for supporting the international Islamic terrorist group ISIS. Saudi Arabian police have arrested them for providing financial and technical support to the ISIS terrorists.

The Saudi CID wing has arrested three of the accused near Yemen border while they tried to hand over SIM cards to the terrorist groups. Later, the police raided their flat and arrested the remaining two people. According to various sources, those who were arrested at the flat are women and all the accused belong to the same family. Hailing from Kannur, a CPM strong-hold in Kerala, they have been staying in Saudi for the last 25 years.

The police have found that they procured the SIM cards after submitting fake identity proofs. Sources suggest that they were arrested on similar charges earlier but later released after not being able to prove terror links.

The family of the accused in Kannur has already approached the Saudi government and pleaded not guilty. One person is believed to have escaped from Saudi Arabia following the arrests. But agencies have confirmed that he has not reached Kannur.
