Mughalsarai railway station has been renamed in honour of the Jana Sangh leader and propounder of Integral Humanism and Antyodaya, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya
Uttar Pradesh Government has released a notification stating that Mughalsarai Railway station has been renamed Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Junction. It is in honour of the Jana Sangh leader, nationalist thinker and the propounder of Integral Humanism and Antyodaya, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, the name of Asia’s largest marshalling yard has been changed. Pandit Deendayal was found dead near Mughalsarai station under mysterious circumstances on February 11, 1968.
Proposed by UP CM Yogi Adityanath, the new name has been approved by UP Governor Ram Naik today. The Ministry of Home Affairs already cleared the state government’s proposal last.
In a tweet, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that the station has been renamed as per the demand of the citizens. Recently, so many other railway stations also have been renamed. In January 2017, Mhow Railway station has been named after Dr B R Ambedkar. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus was also renamed Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus last year by Central Railways.
