As a legendary nationalist thinker and former national General Secretary and Vice-President of Bharatiya Jana Sangh Shri P Parameswaran turns 90, the Navati celebrations begin in Kerala under the stewardship of Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram

“Parameswarji was able to see his efforts bear fruits in the 2014 general elections. Likewise, he will also be able to see Bharat become the Vishwa Guru”, said Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. He was speaking at the valedictory
ceremony of the Shri P Parameswaran Navati Celebrations organised by Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram (BVK), in Kochi, Kerala on April 2. Shri P Parameswaran, one of the senior RSS pracharaks in Kerala and the founder director of BVK, is a prolific writer and researcher who pioneered the intellectual war against the Communist onslaught against history and civilisational ethos. Describing Parameswarji’s life as ‘a living model’, Shri Rajnath Singh said, ‘His words and deeds are worth emulating’. “People should follow his footsteps. His life is a symbol of integrity,” he added.
Presiding over the function, Justice K T Thomas, Chairman of Shri P Parameswaran Navati Aghosha Samithi (PNAS), said that the position of religion in India’s constitution comes after public health, public order, morality and fundamental rights. “There are some forces which are spreading a false campaign that Hindutva is anti-secularism. Objectivity can always be seen in the speeches and works of Parameswarji as it was also seen in the words of Swami Vivekananda. This has attracted me towards Parameswarji,” he added.
Greeting Parameswarji on the occasion, Dr Krishna Gopal, RSS Sahsarkaryavah hailed the life of Parameswarji as an example for others on to how the life of a pracharak should be lived. Swayamsevaks are those who serve the nation at the will of the Sangh without selfish motives. Parameswarji had all the opportunities for making personal gains but he refused to yield to any such luxuries and comfort but dedicated his life for the Sangh, he added.
Those who spoke on the occasion included Swami Vivikthananda Saraswati, Dr D Babu Paul, former Deputy Chief Secretary, Government of Kerala, PEB Menon, Prant Sanghachalak, RSS; M A Krishnan, Margadarshi, Balagokulam, Kummanam Rajasekharan, BJP State President and R Sanjayan, Joint Director, BVK.
Left trying to destroy Bharatiya culture:
S Gurumurthy
The Left is trying to destroy India’s
history, cultural heritage and individual relationships by espousing a flawed economic paradigm’, renowned
columnist and economist S Gurumurthy said on April 1 while delivering the keynote address at the inaugural ceremony of Shri P Parameswaran Navati Celebrations. Even Karl Marx had thought that India could move towards a revolution by destroying its culture, he said at the function, organised by BVK. However, such a policy could not be implemented in India as it had strong cultural relationships, he argued.
Commenting on the flawed historical perspective of Marxists, Shri Gurumurthy said that Karl Marx never visited Bharat. He neither studied any fundamental literature of Bharat nor met great Rishis like Parameswarji. Marx preached revolution to take us forward without knowing what Bharat is. Marx would not have cursed us as semi-Barbarians if he had sincerely gone through our economic history like Paul Baruch or Madison.
Shri Gurumurthy said, Bharat is marching ahead by treading on the path shown by Hindutva renaissance
ideologues like Shri Parameswar. “The service of Parameswarji to the society cannot be ignored by anyone in the country,” he added.
Inaugurating the function, Dr Vijay Bhatkar, Chancellor of Nalanda University, said, “Bharat would become a developed nation when knowledge seekers from all parts of the world flock to its universities. “The higher
education sector in our country should be equipped to make India a knowledge base,” he added. Dr Bhatkar said Bharat is the only country which has maintained a strong cultural identity from the historical period. “America established its supremacy during the 20th century through its army strength. Now the 21st century is the time for Bharat,” he added.
The seminar, attended by Shri Parameswaran, was presided over by BVK General Secretary Dr M Mohandas. BVK Jt Secretary R Sanjayan, General Secretary KC Sudhir Babu and Programme Committee co-Convenor Dr ARS Menon also participated.
Reservation system has failed to benefit the Dalits: Dr Paswan
Celebrating the navati of P Parameswaran, former National General Secretary and Vice-President of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the BVK
organised a two-day seminar on ‘National Resurgence: Vision and Mission’. The seminar was addressed by Dr Sanjay Paswan, former Union Minister; Dr Prasanna Deshpande, Assistant Professor, Fergusson College, Pune; and Shri Prafulla Ketkar, Editor, Organiser Weekly. Dr C I Issac, Vice-President, BVK, was the moderator.
Dr Sanjay Paswan said that deliberate attempts are being made by certain quarters to scare the Dalits in the country. “Even after three generations, the
reservation system has failed to benefit the Dalits, which itself proves that their exploitation continued unabated. They have the ability to think and act. They should be rescued from the forces which are trying to wreck their future,” Dr Paswan added. He said the downtrodden people must be taken into confidence and treated as equals. “We should create conducive conditions to achieve their upliftment,” he noted.
“Neo-liberals have entrenched themselves in the academic set up in the pretext of cultural studies,” said Deshpande. “This was started on 1925 at Frankfurt Institute as part of the left ideologies and later it was spread to all other universities under the Columbia University.” He also said that the neo-liberals have now captured our universities which would destroy the indigenous culture of people of Bharat. “Though communism is aimed at organising workers, it is now targeting the students. It led to the anti-national slogans being raised at the JNU campus recently,” he pointed out.
Shri Prafulla Ketkar said that it is imperative to reconstruct the country based on nationality. “Problems erupt whenever the concept of nationality is compromised and destroyed,” he opined. Late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, in his famous speech ‘Tryst with Destiny’ said, ‘India’ is a nation in the making. Indeed, he meant that ‘India’ was a state in the making, not a nation, because Bharat as a nation is thousands of years old. But the Left misinterpreted it and propagated that Bharat is a nation in the making and it has never been a single nation before. They still insist that there should not be a nation like Bharat and this led to 50 years of delay in building up the nation, he added.
Reminiscing one of the earliest contributors of Organiser Weekly, Shri Ketkar said, Shri Prameswarji is among those who have played a key role in fostering the ethos of nationalism in a most selfless manner. His life should be taken as a role model for the
reconstruction of the nation, he added.
Re-think population control measures in Kerala:
Dr Sanyal
“There is an imperative need for Bharat to revisit its population management measures in view of the changing dynamics and profile of its demography characterised by a healthy increase in the number of old people as also a phenomenal growth of young populace,” said, Dr Sanjeev Sanyal, renowned author and Principal Economic Advisor to Government of Bharat.
Speaking at a seminar on ‘Development and Environment’ on the second day, the official drew attention to the burgeoning population of youth in the country, which has resulted in increasing its production capacity.
Dr Sanyal said the government has been implementing measures for population control and management. Urbanisation has also played a key role in controlling population. “But
population control in itself will not improve the economic condition of our country unless the productive capacity of the people is effectively
channelised,” he noted.
Citing the example of Kerala, he said that the situation has become acuter in the state which has registered a huge spurt in the number of old people due to improved healthcare facilities. “Due to the availability of quality medical facilities, a vast majority of its people are healthy. This has also led the government to spend large amounts of money for pension and other benefits as people retire from service by the age of 56”, he added.
The declining birth rate in Kerala can also lead to an economic crisis as the state’s production capacity would be affected, he said. Dr Sanyal said the presence of slums is the biggest threat for urbanisation. Rather than demolishing the slums, the basic infrastructure at these places should be improved.
“With the advent of a nationalist government in the country, the centre of discourse has shifted from appeasement to development,” Shri J Nandakumar, RSS Akhil Bharatiya Samyojak of Prajna Pravah said. Detailing the stark ideological difference in the approach, he said that Marxism is fundamentally a “productivist” ideology, not an inclusive one. It has obviously little to say, and little concern, for the fate of the environment. The mechanistic view of nature, they believe, the history is
nothing but man’s efforts to subjugate nature. He warned the ongoing debate as a trap of binaries created by the West and Left that pose Development against Environment. “We should not treat the environment as an obstacle to development. According to our Integral point of view, we believe that the environment and development are not contradictory, they complement each other. No sensible person can put development against the environment,” he underscored.
Dr V S Vijayan, member, Kerala State Bio-Diversity Board, said some of the recommendations made by the Gadgil and Kasturi Rangan committees should be implemented to protect the Western Ghats. The recommendations of these committees should be given to the gram sabhas (village bodies) for their approval.
“The reckless use of pesticides in agriculture is causing huge damage to human health. ,” said Dr Vijayan, who is also a member of the Western Ghat Ecology Expert Committee. There are attempts from several quarters to bring genetically modified seeds to India. Organisations like the BVK should come forward to resist the move, he added. Both development and environmental protection are important, and any attempts by vested interests to impede the country’s development should be resisted, he added.
With the two-day long national seminar in Kochi that witnessed a huge participation, the Bharatiya Vichara Kendram, a brainchild of Shri P Parameswaran, has launched yearlong celebrations in connection with the Navati of its founder director. National and international seminars on subjects of national importance and cultural
programmes will be held during the period. The office bearers of the BVK also plan to publish the complete works of P Parameswaranji in twenty volumes which will be an invaluable asset to the intellectual and academic world.
