Another protest targeting RSS and BJP in Kolkata is part of the larger game plan of communists to divert the attention from real issue i.e. the molestation case which later turned into the caste issue

Jisnu Basu from Kolkata
The Naxalite students’ unions, their mature sympathisers and Student Islamic Organization (SIO) staged a series of protest last month, after Sushil Mundi, an active member of ‘Radical’, an ultra-Left students’ union went missing from Jadavpur University hostel on February 2, 2017. The M Phil student of Linguistics disappeared from the university campus after being accused by a female student of molesting her during a feminist protest held on the campus. The victim is also an activist of another ultra-Left students’ union, United Students’ Democratic Front (USDF). She didn’t lodge any complaint but posted it on Facebook. Sushil left his cell phone in his hostel room which was an initial challenge for police to track him.  Finally police got him from Mecheda
railway station of East Medinipur, the district adjacent to West Medinipur, where Krisenji, chief of People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) had spent his last days before he lost his life in an encounter with COBRA Battalion in 2011. Police brought him to Kolkata.  Meanwhile ultra-Left forces organised processions on February 10 and  17 with active participation of SIO, Dalit Bahujan Solidarity Movement (DBSM) and Bastar Solidarity. Protesters linked the incident with the unfortunate death of Rohit Vemula in Hyderabad University (HU) and disappearance of JNU student Najeeb Ahmed.  On the same day, SIO also arranged a press conference at Kolkata Press club for the sake of Dalit-Muslim
solidarity. Haradhan Mandi, Sushil’s brother filed an FIR against the girl and three other students, under sections pertaining prevention of atrocities against SC/ ST. All the accused were members of USDF. Confused USDF called for a protest rally in front of the RSS state headquarters on February 25. After all this drama, police produced Sushil before the press after 25 days of missing. To save the face a joint press conference had again been called by Radical, Bahujan Solidarity Movement and SIO on March 1, 2017. In the press meet, an emotional Sushil blamed all possible agents for social injustice and described how as a Dalit student he had always been humiliated. Interestingly, he didn’t spend a single word about USDF, against whom his brother had lodged the complaint to the police. He categorically condemned BJP and ABVP for mentioning his name in the FIR lodged for hooliganism at the time of screening of “Buddha in a Traffic Jam” inside the campus, as he belongs to a poor Dalit family his name was
included. Although that was last year’s incident, it created a deep depression in him this year and he became crazy. After three weeks of his hiding he realised that he should get back and fight against the Brahminical society.

Life sentence to DU Professor for Maoists Links

Former Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student and Delhi University (DU) Professor GN Saibaba and four others were sentenced to life imprisonment for their connection with Maoists and for “waging war” against India by the Gadchiroli sessions court in Maharashtra on March 7.
Besides Saibaba, JNU student Hem Mishta, former journalist Prashant Rahi, Mahesh Tirke and Pandu Narote received life imprisonment. Meanwhile, Vijay Tirke was awarded ten-year imprisonment.
According to the sources, the sympathisers of Maoists and an organisation led by Left-leaning students, DSU held protest and burnt the effigies of Maharashtra Government and the Central Government at the JNU campus against the life imprisonment to Saibaba and called it a false conviction. DSU is the same organistaion which was involved in raising anti-India slogans on February 9, 2016 at JNU campus.
While Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) welcomed the life imprisonment awarded to Saibaba, saying Saibaba had played a big role in spreading the ideology of Mao in urban areas. It has been proven by the court that he was in touch with the Maoists hiding in jungles and used to work for them from the city. He worked as a mediator for them both on national and international level.
ABVP also alleged that Saibaba had spread the ideology and aided recruitment of Maoists in many universities of the country, including JNU and DU. People who raised anti-national slogans in Ramjas College were the gang members of the very Saibaba. Even after his arrest many left-groups campaigned for his release, student
associations like AISA, SFI, and DSU are among these groups.

Sushil joined the University as a graduate student of Civil Engineering. Like Kerala, CPI (M) in West Bengal is also considered to be a party of upper caste Hindus. They haven’t got a single Dalit as their state level leader so far! Condition is almost the same in ultra-Left students’ unions in JU and CU. Since 1970s, Naxalite student unions have always been dominated by upper caste Hindus. However during last few years the Left ideologues have realised that common Indians have failed to digest their alien ideas and refused to accept Che or Stalin as their role model. To compensate they are presently mentioning the name of Gandhiji and Babasaheb Ambedkar. In fact, Communists mercilessly defamed Gandhji and always betrayed Dr Ambedkar.  Babasaheb was a true critic of Communist activism, yet Communists started trapping Dalit students in the name of Dr Ambedkar. There is a common scenario in JNU, HU or JU, everywhere Left forces form organisations like Ambedkar Students’ Union (ASU). Sushil Mandi gradually got involved deeply in the ultra-left activities. He completed four year engineering graduation in six years. He then joined as an M Phil student in Linguistics Department. Since then Sushil has been used by their leaders as a pawn in all of their “Hamla Bol” type programmes. Threatening the opposition student leaders and vandalising others’ programmes have become his routine activity. Three years back USDF split into two fragments over rape case of a female activist and ‘Radical’ was formed. The nuisance value of Sushil has always been capitalised by Radical since its inception. Sushil took a leading role for vandalising the screening of Vivek Agnihotri’s film ‘Buddha in a Traffic Jam’ in JU campus. They physically tortured Vivek and tried to break the window glass of his car  when he entered the campus. An FIR was lodged by the students of the university and obviously Sushil’s name was there among the accused.
And who are the Brahminical girls who falsely accused Sushil for molestation because of his poor and dalit background? In the FIR Sushil’s brother mentioned the name of one of them. Sushil’s supporters have been repeatedly mentioning another name, a Pune based student, and she doesn’t hesitate to declare herself as ‘Anti-national’ in her social media profile.  In a Facebook post she accused that Sushil had touched her inappropriately during a feminist demonstration programme held in the campus on January 15. Sushil misbehaved at the time of returning a cigarette to her. USDF sided with the victim girl and demanded apology from Sushil. Inhaling drug through cigarettes and fighting with each other in intoxicated condition is not a new event for these ultra-Left groups. Common students are afraid of their nuisance making capability and the campus is generally ruled by these
elements. A strong drug racket is active inside the campus and no ultra-Left group has ever protested against it. This time Radical reacted:  Sushil is targeted because of his Shantal (ST) background. Earlier USDF and Radical jointly shouted slogans for Afzal Guru, Umar Khalid and other Kashmiri militants. They cried for  “Kashmir-ki-Azadi, Manipur ki Azadi, Nagaland ki Azadi’. All their revolutionary feminist protests, like using sanitary napkins as medium of posters or kissing in public had always been organised jointly by these two groups. However they never arranged a single programme against ragging or drug trafficking.
Despite being repeatedly projected as Leftist stronghold in
so-called progressive media JU is still bearing the legacy of Rishi Aurobindo, Gurudev Rabindranath, Raja Subodh Mallick, who established National Council of Education (NCE), Bengal to introduce Indian ethos in education. They tried to untie the Indian education system from Macaulian conspiracy of making black Europeans. They realised the necessity of establishing engineering and medical colleges for sustainable development of the country. As dreamed by them JU gradually took the shape of an indigenous technology university. The original ‘main gate’ of NCE is still preserved behind the main administrative building, Aravinda Bhawan. After Independence JU got a cluster of wise dedicated teachers in different disciplines. Due to their wisdom, knowledge and dedication excellent laboratories had been established in the campus. Quality of teaching secured a rank of the national level. One of such dedicated teachers was Prof Gopal Chandra Sen. Sen headed Mechanical Engineering Department and later became Vice-Chancellor of JU. Naxalites had given a call to boycott examination in seventies. Prof Sen a perfect academician and honest administrator didn’t agree to this. He was murdered by the Naxalite students on December 30, 1970. That was the beginning of the
merciless Left intolerance in JU campus. Rana Basu, the ultra-left student, who killed Prof Sen was the only son of a well-off doctor in Kolkata. After the incident Rana flew to Canada and never came back. Still today about ninety percent of students, who sought for “Kashmir ki Azadi” or “Bastar Solidarity” in JU campus are real followers of Rana. They generally come from very rich families, have fabulous money in hand, dressed in Adidas, consume imported whisky and consider naxalism as their style statement. After 3/4 years of their stay in the campus they never bother about the poverty of the country or social injustice with Dalits still happening throughout India. Among the rest ten per cent most of them are like Sushil Mandi. They were initially tapped with ideas of “global collective firms” or classless society and forced to come out from the normal academic cycle. On an average this type of students spend 10 to 15 years in the campus. Only 2/3 students know about the full planning i.e. who supplies funds to procure two-stage landmine in Jungle Mahals? Why are ultra-Lefts so close with fanatic Jihadis? They are mature politicians and design the nuisance to be staged in next few months. Interestingly, Kolkata based
newspapers are keen to focus the nuisance value of the ultra-Lefts. A three year long skill development programme was organised by Production Engineering Department on the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Every year Mechanical Engineering department arranges excellent programme to commemorate the martyrdom day of Prof Gopal Chandra Sen. Last year on the eve of Independence day students organised a big procession, they walked throughout the JU campus holding National Flag and singing patriotic songs. Hundreds of students and a large number of teachers regularly participate in these programmes. Enlightened press of Kolkata didn’t consider this news worthy. There are senior media bosses, who avail star plus parks, travel in executive class, spend jolly hours with Scotch whisky and yet are mentally associated with ‘Bastar Solidarity’. They instruct the correspondents to cover a programme of 5 to 7 JU students supporting attack on army base in the Uri sector. They also insist the desk people to make it a front pager with colour photograph, and the dramas are aired also in the electronic media.
