In a heinous act, SFI activists bid ‘farewell’ to their retiring Principal by digging a grave on campus
The mere thought of killing the teacher put the student Sukumaran into a mental trauma, and he had to burn himself in rice husk to pay penance for the evil thought. This mythological story was taught in the Malayalam curriculum of Kerala, in order to nourish the students about our culture and attitude towards teachers.
But nothing seems to have worked out as the leftist Student Federation of India (SFI), is accused of digging a ceremonial graveyard for their Lady Principal in Govt Victoria College, Palakkad, on March 31, the day of her retirement.
N Sarasu, who has been teaching in the prestigious institution for 23 years, never compromised with the SFI and Left orient teachers organisations, had to suffer the heinous act never heard of. She lodged a complaint to the nearby police station accusing her colleagues and students from SFI responsible for this.
“They were not happy with the good work I have done for the college. So they decided to observe my retirement day as my death and dug a grave”, said N Sarasu to the Organiser. She accused that the teachers belonging to the Left organisations had compelled the SFI students to do the disgraceful act. She said that there are eyewitnesses to prove this.
“I was shell-shocked to see the symbolic graveyard prepared by my own students. I filed a complaint to the Police and they have filed case against 15 students in this regard” said the Principal.
The left teachers organisation AKGCTA had often locked horns with the Principal over the salary bills and other administrative matters since she took charge as the Head of the Institution.
Some teachers staged a protest against the act and the Akhil Bharatheeya Vidyarthi Parishad removed the graveyard in solidarity with the Principal. “Everyone knows the SFI had done this. We have started a campaign exposing the SFI in this matter throughout the campuses across Kerala,’said Abhijith, unit president of ABVP in Victoria College.
“The tussle between SFI and AKGCTA with the Principal started long ago,” says Manoj, a third year student from Victoria College. She never allowed activities which were against the University and College rules. That resulted in heated arguments, strikes, in the campus”, added Manoj.
As usual the SFI leadership distanced themselves from this soon after the incident drew attention across the country through social media. They allege that rival group has done this in order to defame SFI. Since the incident has gone viral, the SFI is facing severe criticism from all spheres of the society.
Double Standard of CPM In Atrocities Against Dalits: Union Minister Rudy
Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy said in Palakkad, CPM’s double standard concerning atrocities against Dalits has been exposed by SFI’s cruel show of insult by making a grave in the college campus for the Dalit principal on the day of her retirement. The same CPM and SFI were crying hoarse for Rohit Vemula. Rudy visited Dr TN Sarasu at her residence and consoled her. The Minister conveyed the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah and the whole BJP to Dr Sarasu. Rudy said that MB Rajesh and PK Biju, the CPM MPs from Palakkad District, went to Hyderabad for shouting slogans in favour of Rohit Vemula; but they never came out against the atrocities on a Dalit Principal in the same district. Rudy demanded strict actions against the guilty SFI activists.
Meanwhile, MA Baby, CPM PB member from Kerala ridiculed himself by stating that it was not a ‘grave’ that the SFI workers had made, but, an art installation! BJP and ABVP leaders condemned Baby’s bizarre and obnoxious justification. In connection with the incident, the Police have arrested 5 SFI activists.
