ShiladityaSengupta developed an anti-inflammatory gel as a master’s student in Bharat that is now known as ‘Nimulid’. As a doctoral student , he also developed a core for chronic wounds such as pressure scores. But a child’s toy inspired him to his greatest innovation: a Nano scale device to treat cancer.
Tha Nano cells have the potential to treat the tumors more effectively than existing regimes and also to reduce its side effects. The Nano cells have proved effective in mouse models of melanoma and lung cancer. To design his work , he has used polymers and drugs already approved for human use. Therefore, doctors can move them into clinical trials without any hesitation.
He is a rare mix of an entrepreneur and a scientist. ShiladityaSengupta is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Harvard Medical School. Currently he is developing best-in-class drugs for dermatology care in his Vyome Bioscience which aims to change the world of dermatology.
