Some critics are of the opinion that BJP has fared badly in Bihar elections, but in reality it is not so. BJP has got the highest vote percentage in these elections. Nearly one crore  Biharies have voted for the BJP against the jungle raj .BJP need not blame anyone for the so-called debacle, though it is a human weakness to put blame on each other.Lalu and Nitish have followed the old tested saying—‘United we stand, divided we fall’ and hence the triumph. Lalu who has got more seats than Nitish is selfish, family centered and aggressive by nature. It is likely rather certain that ultimately he will over power Nitish and in case Nitish asserts his authority as CM, a clash between the two is inevitable. Moreover Nitish Kumar and his JD (U) have drastically lost 40 per cent of their seats. Jungle raj in Bihar has already set in. A 12 year old dalit girl was  rapped just outside DM’s office in Patna, while two miscreants attempted to molest a woman constable in Alamganj Court on 9.10.15. How Bihar government will curb crime since 58 per cent of MLA’s are facing criminal charges is a big question .

Bill to save Cow

(Organiser, 8.11.2015); This refers to the letter of Shri Ajay Mittal titled ‘Bill to save Cow’ in the Reader's Forum of Organiser. I appreciate the argument which he has given as to why we should protect cow in particular, which has been our tradition, culture and responsible for building our country’s economy since ages. If we look back at the history of any country in the world, we find that there is one or the other thing which has made that country what it is today, making itself life-line of that country. For instance the writer has mentioned, that ‘Horse’ which was the only means of transport in America during that  period is responsible for building America as what it is today and that is why the Americans have a strong sentiment favouring  the horse and in fact some states like California  have even laws banning horse slaughter. Take ‘Camel’, which is called ‘Ship of the Desert’ is the lifeline of the desert countries of Middle-East and African countries, since ages. We find stringent laws against slaughtering of camel in these countries. Similarly we find “COW” the lifeline of  Bharat. Since ages cow has been the backbone of our agricultural scenario and  thus is responsible for building our economy as what it is today. Besides, ox which is being utilised in agriculture was also a draught animal, the only means of mass transport of people and goods utilised widely since ages. Hence, I too assert that, Bharat should go for a total cow protection, as what other countries are doing.

Banish Fascist Mindset

At a Congress workers' meet on November 7 in New Delhi, Rahul Gandhi, the Congress Vice President revealed the intolerant streak in him by saying that other parties might defeat the RSS and BJP, but it is only the Congress that can 'smash them'. I was reminded of what Smt Indira Gandhi said during the infamous Emergency days. She declared that the RSS has been defeated but not 'vanquished'. Later on, as it turned out, Smt. Gandhi was herself defeated. But see, the Fascist Indira DNA is very much there in Rahul. All democrats ought to take note of it. This Fascist mindset has to be banished if Bharateeya democracy is to flourish without threats from any quarter.

A Total Metamorphosis

The Bharateeya political scenario has undergone a total metamorphosis since the dawn of the Independence. During the 50s and 60s, the only main stand of the miniscule Opposition was its anti-Congressism. And now, five decades later, in the 21st century, a gradually uniting Opposition as sole platform happens to be anti-BJPism; wherein ironically, the Congress is reduced to the status of playing a second fiddle to the might of a few northern satraps.
