PM Narendra Modi, in his Mann Ki Baat, lauded the students from Kerala for promoting the significance of the donation of human organs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat programme of October 25 found place for praising the school children of two different zones of schools in Kerala.
PM lauded the students of St. Mary’s UP School, Chittoor, Kochi for sending him a map of the country drawn with thumb impression on a big piece of canvass. He says, first he wondered what it was. But, the letter cleared the matter that it was for promoting the significance of the donation of human organs. The Prime Minister felt that it was a wonderful idea. He added that the states are taking actions to simplify the existing rules with respect to the organ donation.
Abhilash T Pratap, a teacher from St. Mary’s school, told Organiser about the matters which led to the preparation of the map. A student in the school suffers from brain tumour. Naturally, the kids are all sorry and worried.  Amritha Antony, a III Standard student, wondered, in the school assembly held in July, if organ donation could save their school mate. A serious query from such a small student led the teachers to further deliberations in this regard. They prepared the country’s map and asked the children to border the whole of it as well as the state boundaries with thumb impression using white ink. Map was of 15’ x 16’ size. Once it was ready, the children and the teachers exhibited it in the busy spots of Kochi, namely, High Court, Junction, Vyttila, etc. The exhibition was spiced by street dramas highlighting the importance of organ donation. The audience cast their thumb impressions in the map. They also signed the undertaking to donate the organs for the needy. School dispatched the map and the undertaking to the Prime Minister on August 6. Karun K, a VII Standard student, in his letter, requested the PM to announce a day for the organ donation. School mooted the idea of a title of Shreshta Padavi (very important person) to be given to the donor. School also asked PM to establish a toll free phone number to communicate to the registered donor in case of an emergency.
Abhilash Master said, a PMO representative has visited the school and congratulated the students and teachers for their exemplary gesture.
PM started his programme by praising Kannur station of All India Radio (AIR) for giving a consolation prize for Higher Secondary student Shradha Thampan of Rajapuram, Kassergode district. Shradha got the prize for forwarding a response letter concerning the subjects highlighted in the Mann Ki Baat speeches. PM said that these sorts of actions would empower the participatory democracy hence other AIR stations shall follow suit. Shradha had highlighted her appreciation towards PMs ideas. She termed the PM’s call for selfie with the daughters as “silent revolution”. She also said that she and her school mates were impressed by the PM’s approach towards khadi, patriotism, sense of cleanliness, awareness of science, etc.
Due to these two highlights in the Mann Ki Baat, Keralites are extremely happy and proud of the kids of both the schools. And, it turns instrumental to boost the PM’s popularity in the State where pseudo secularists and anti Hindu forces join hands against RSS and BJP and the PM.                                                —T Satisan, Kerala
