RSS Sahsarkaryavah Dr Krishna Gopal described the Sangh swayamsevaks as ‘tapasvis’ who always think and act for betterment of the nation. Addressing a gathering of uniformed swayamsevaks in Dehradun on April 19 he said it is time the work for creating a casteless society should be accelerated. He said there may be different sects in the society, but one who respects all is a Hindu. The function was organised at the Rangers College Ground. Prant Sanghachalak Shri Chandrapal Negi and Mahanagar Sanghachalak Shri Gopal Krishna Mittal also shared the occasion.
Referring to various social evils, Dr Krishna Gopal said the evils like untouchability, etc. have been imposed on us by the invaders, and there were no such evils in our society before the foreign aggressions. He said the areas where the impact of the invasions has been low the evils have no effect. He also mentioned the efforts taken by Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar to eradicate social evils from the Hindu society. RSS Prant Pracharak Dr Harish and Prant Karyavah Shri Laxmi Prasad Jaiswal were also present on the occasion. About 4,300 uniformed swayamsevaks attended the function. (VSK Dehradun)
Hostels in border areas of Uttarakhand Uttarakhand Daivi Apada Peedit Sahayati Samiti has decided to set-up a series of hostels in border districts of the State. Bhoomipujan for such a hostel was performed in Kedardhar on April 9. Similar hostels are to be set up in Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag districts, which are near China borders. The hostels will be opened in different phases. These hostels will act as a catalyst of change in the border areas. They will help in rural development work and also putting a check on migration. Naturally, a vigil on security of the region will also be on top of the agenda. The decision is being seen important because there are reports of Chinese aggression in these areas. RSS Kshetra Pracharak Shri Alokji, president of Uttarakhand Daivi Apada Peedit Sahayata Samiti Shri Dinesh Gupta and many other important personalities were present on the occasion. Additional Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu Government Dr. R S Kannan expressed his pleasant surprise that at the Samskrita Bharati programme the entire procedure was in Sanskrit. Manushya a short story collection in Sanskrit was released on April 17 at the function. In yet another Samskrita Bharati function, Mathru Devo Bhava, an anthology of Sanskrit short stories was released by former Judge of Madras High Court Smt Prabha Sridevan on April 19. The lady narrated an interesting anecdote on the occasion; “yesterday the co-passenger in my flight was Shri D Raja, a communist leader. He was telling me that reverence for one’s mother is sure to instill probity in one’s life. Today I am here to release the book comprising short stories extolling love for mother. I deem it an honour”. The lady is great granddaughter of V Krishnaswamy Iyer, the founder of the Madras Samskrita College. The couple of books released last week happen to be the first publications of Uttar Tamil Nadu Samskrita Bharati. (VSK Tamil Nadu)
The heroes in search of sparrows
Hari of Kanchipuram, a RSS swayamsevak was particularly worried by the disappearance of house sparrows. He arranged a nest and hung it in a room in his house where no electronic gadget is allowed so that these sparrows will be free to roam. Meanwhile RSS shakhas in South Chennai district have started motivating locals in helping the little sparrows to reappear in the metro. The shakhas took it upon themselves as the weekly service activity campaign. An initial 50 households are being cultivated in this regard according to Shri B Prakash, Prant Sampark Pramukh, Uttar Tamil Nadu. The idea is to provide water and grains to attract the little twitters. House sparrow has almost disappeared from urban areas and to a large extent from the countryside also because of the extensive use of pesticides in the farm sector. With the replacing of wooden and thatched house roofs by concrete material, domestic sparrows have lost their safe habitats in residential areas.

Looking at J&K with political angle is dangerous

Shri Arun Kumar, director of Jammu-Kashmir Study Centre, New Delhi, stressed the need that the issue of Jammu & Kashmir should not be seen with political angle. He said the constitutional and legal situations there have to be seen in a transparent manner. He was addressing a gathering of intellectuals in Patna on April 21. The discussion on the issue was organised by the Chanakya National Law University and Jammu-Kashmir Study Centre. Shri Arun Kumar further said it is unfortunate that the pain and sufferings of the people of J&K were not understood in the right perspective. The governments which were formed after Independence looked at this issue with political angle, which only complicated the things. He stressed on an extensive debate on Article 370. He said special emphasis should be made over Gilgit, Baltistan and Ladakh. Vice Chancellor of Chanakya National Law University Prof A Laxminath, Professor of geography Dr Sudipto Adhikari, Supreme Court lawyer Shri Aniruddha Rajput and Shri NN Sinha and Associate Professor of Social Studies and Research Institute Dr Ajay Jha also spoke on the occasion. —Sanjeev Kumar
Bharat has to be looked with our own glass — Govindacharya “India cannot make progress by copying the development model of any other country. We are the country, which gave developmental models to other countries. Now also we have to follow our own model and Bharat has to be looked with our own glass,” said noted Swadeshi thinker and ideologue Shri KN Govindacharya, while delivering Shrikant Joshi Memorial Lecture at Sirmaur in Madhya Pradesh on April 22.
