Last seven months from May 2014 onwards have gone peaceful in Nagaland. Naga terrorist organisations like National Socialist Council of Nagaland—Isak Muivah NSCN(IM) are marginalised and Naga youth are disenchanted by ‘sovereignty slogan’ and ‘unique history’ coined by anti-national elements including the terrorist organisations, their political supporters and their pseudo and shadow NGOs active in Nagaland since Independence. Due to lack of correct information and political will, the nexus of NSCN(IM), Church and dubious political leaders could deceive Delhi almost all occasions and drew maximum advantages causing irreparable harm to the nation. This Naga nexus is in habit of repeating this dangerous game. They underestimate the Modi Government as well. To their misfortune Modi Government and Modi himself appeared smarter. When Prime Minister Modi visited Nagaland, the league of terrorist organisations, Church and their over ground political patrons were marginalised and he reached directly to the common Naga people. This is partly because of present Nagaland State Government’s alert approach and nationalist actions.
All these nationalist approaches of TR Zeliang are causing concern to the league of legendry illegal people because the political patronage is almost diminished and their money channels linked with state treasuries are blocked, their anti-national and anti-social activities are restricted, the genuine and nationalist Nagas are encouraged, the propaganda machinery of terrorist elements are weakened, the true picture and filtered information are allowed to reach Delhi and misappropriation of Government fund is checked. These all silent happy developments have brought cheers on the face of every Naga—young and old both. Modi Government has strained the string of purse. The over draft of 1234 crore caused during the rule of Neiphiu Rio, now Lok Sabha MP, has fallen as legacy on TR Zeliang Government. Even several budgetary funds are not released due to lack of proper accounting and utilization certificates against previous budgets. Because of this, the hands of TR Zeliang is very tight. Even the payments of salaries of some of the departments including over two thousand Hindi teachers and other urgent expenditures are difficult to meet with.
The dry days of TR Zeliang has provided golden opportunity to Neiphiu Rio, his militia men and missionary managers. They have put their propaganda machinery at work to tarnish the image of Zeliang as an inefficient Chief Minister. It was Rio who handed over the Chief Ministership to Zeliang with proper party consent and with a hope to get a ministerial berth in Modi Cabinet. But he was refused because of his dubious role, adverse remarks in his past profile, doubtful integrity and anti-BJP stand. The hobnobbing with NSCN(IM) proved costly to him.
Undoubtedly, Neiphiu Rio is a very powerful politician with uncountable money, NSCN(IM) and NSCN(U) support and Church cooperation. He has reportedly several foreign masters in his side. That is why he can harm the country most if he wishes. His past profile supports this apprehension. Neiphiu Rio finds difficult and uncomfortable to remain out of power for long. For this reason, a political coup has been hatched and toppling game is played to dethrone TR Zeliang. For this, G Kaito Aye-NPF MLA from Satakha in Zunheboto district of Nagaland is focussed as their leader. Here again, the involvement of militant organisations and missionary movement are reported. The number game has started. The trading of MLAs by political merchants with trunk full of money is afoot in Kohima, Dimapur and upto Delhi.
A political coup was hatched reportedly by NSCN(K) in Arunachal Pradesh also. The supporter MLAs of then Chief Minister Gegong Apang were hijacked by armed cadres and were put in confinement at secret place. Gegong Apang was at Haflong participating as chief guest in Opening Ceremony of a year-long Silver Jubilee Celebration of Zeliangrong Heraka Association on January 5, 1999. Apang was pushed away at gun point and Mukutmithi was enthroned as favoured Chief Minister of Church and militant organisation.
The history is being repeated today in Nagaland and TR Zeliang and his cabinet colleagues are victim now. The Bible, booze, bullet and black money are at work to dethrone Zeliang disgracefully. Fortunately, BJP is alert today and watching the political upheaval closely from a distance. This time also, supporter MLAs of ruling coalition led by TR Zeliang has been hijacked. Up to filing this report by late evening on January 12, the trading of MLAs was at its peak in Kohima, Dimapur and Delhi. The Governor P.B. Acharya is a very conscious and is closely observing the anti-national games played by the pseudo-nationalist Naga politicians. Let us hope for the best for Naga society and for the country. —Jagdamba Mall
