News Round-up: VHP is committed to restore Hindu dignity—Dr Pravin Togadia

Chennai unit of VHP organised Hindu Unity Conference as a part of its golden jubilee celebrations. Addressing the gathering VHP president Dr Pravin Togadia said the VHP is committed to bring back the lost Hindu dignity and pride. It focuses on four aspects: to see that every Hindu family gets nutritious food; every child gets education; no Hindu woman suffers from malnourishment and every Hindu gets a good job.
“Only 100 crore Hindus survive today all over the world compared to 700 crore Hindus living across the world. Ethnic cleansing of Hindus is seen in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Hindus were rich in trade, education, politics and medicine. But today we have lost pride,” he said.
Earlier Shri Ramagopalan, founder of Hindu Munnani and Shri Duraishankar, RSS Vibhag Sangha-chalak appealed to the audience to fight against casteism and untouchability. Shri Balachander, former DGP, Tamil Nadu spoke on the service activities carried by VHP.                        (VSK Chennai)


Bajrang Dal, VHP, Hindu Jagarana Vedike and many other like minded organisations staged a massive protest, in and around Mangaluru as part of the bandh called by VHP and Bajrang Dal against the attack on Datta Peetha pilgrims on the night of December 5 at Ulaibettu, near Mangaluru. BJP leader Shri Tejaswini Gowda and Shri Rajashekharananda Swamiji of  Gurpur Vajradehi Matha addressed the gathering.


Yoga camp by Dr Hedgewar Smarak Samiti in Chennai

Dr Hedgewar Smarak Samiti organised a 15-day yoga camp for Asthma patients at Agarwal Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vepery, Chennai on December 8. Shri HV Hande, medical practitioner, former Minister of AIADMK and now National Council Member of the BJP inaugurated the camp. Speaking on the occasion, he explained in detail with medical terms how asanas can protect the health in day to day life.
Shri Srinivasan, Prant Karyalaya Pramuk coordinated the programme. Shri MKR Mohan, secretary of Dr Hedgewar Smarak Samiti, Smt Lakshmi, yoga instructor for ladies and Shri Veerabaghu, editor of Vijayabharatham were also present.  (VSK Chennai)


Bal Shivirs by DRI for rural children

Deendayal Research Institute is running Bal Shivirs in rural areas focussing on personality development of the rural children. These camps are being organised with the help of trained Bal Mitra Vistarakas. The camps began on November 28 and through the camps the Bal Mitra Vistaraks identified the talents of the children so that they could be further developed. Speaking at the concluding ceremony of a camp on December 5, DRI organising secretary Shri Abhay Mahajan said the camps are being organised to give a new direction to the life of the children. Sarsanghachalak in Manipur

Problems faced by Manipur are the problems of entire nation  —Mohan Bhagwat

RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat said that the problems faced by the people of Manipur are the problems of the entire nation. He was inaugurating a function at Bhaigyachandra Open Air Theatre in Imphal on December 7. “People of Manipur are part of the nation and their problems should be shared and resolved by the nation,” he said.
King Leishemba Sanajaoba, who was present at the function, said the immediate need of Manipur is the reintroduction of Inner Line Permit System. He also said for the sake of posterity, the Armed Forces (Special Posers) Act 1958 should be repealed and the territorial integrity of Manipur should be protected.                         —Bureau Report


Sewa Kumbha by VHP in Bharuch

Sewa is an effective medium for social change—Bhaiyaji Joshi

A Sewa Kumbha was organised at Bharuch in Gujarat on November 30. Organised by Rashtriya Sewa Samvardhan Samiti the Kumbha was part of the golden jubilee of the VHP. Such Sewa Kumbhas have to be organised at 20 other places. It was first Sewa Kumbha.
Speaking on the occasion RSS Sarkaryavaha Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi described sewa as an effective medium for social change. He appealed to the people to join any of the sewa project in their vicinity.
VHP president Dr Pravin Togadia applauded the 58,121 sewa projects run by the VHP all over the country. Senior saint of Swaminarayan Mandir Bartal Swamy Nauttam Prakash Shastri Maharaj, VHP Akhil Bharatiya Sewa Pramukh Shri Arvindbhai Brahmbhatt, working president of VHP Shri Kauushikbhai Mehta, Swami Vidyananda Maharaj, Swami Akhileshwardas Maharaj, Swami Omkaranandaji Maharaj also spoke. Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi and Dr Pravin Togadia also felicitated former Sanghachalak of Bharuch Shri Moolchandbhai Chauhan, his wife Smt Pushaben and social activists Shri Dhanji Parmer at the function. Shri Dineshbhai Lathia, Shri Uprendra Acharya of Surat, Shri Maheshbhai Tailer and Shri Rakeshbhai Bhatt were honoured for their outstanding sewa activities.
