US President Barack Obama’s acceptance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation to be the chief guest at the India’s Republic Day celebrations is Modi’s biggest diplomatic success. Mr Obama will be the first President of the US to be the chief guest at the function. The visit will further improve India-US ties and be a golden opportunity for India to make the US President more aware of its problems, particularly of cross- border emanating from Pakistan.

Blessing in disguise for national parties

It refers to efforts being made for re-emergence of Janta Dal as a merged single party in a bid to effectively counter two biggest national parties BJP and Congress. It will be blessing in disguise for big national parties if such a merger of personality-based political parties with dynastic tradition takes place, because any such combination is likely to break soon causing them a bigger harm because of their over-ambitious leaders each of them dreaming to become Prime Minister. Even history reveals that all such earlier combinations of political parties with self-centered leaders have always failed. Country having witnessed a strong single-party government after long, poses responsibility on the ruling BJP to go for one-time consolidated but massive poll-reforms so that phenomenon of such personality-based self-centered political parties with over-ambitious leaders running parties like their family business may end forever. Rules for being recognised national and regional parties should be more stringent to minimise their number. With more than 1,600 political parties registered with Election Commission with most of them non-serious in contesting elections, rule should be for auto-deregistering of parties having not contested any elections in say last three years.

Petty mind

This refers to the Congress Party’s decision not to invite Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for a two day international conference it is organising to commemorate the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru. Disrespecting noble souls is a tradition of present Congress. Disrespecting the Prime Minister is equal to disrespecting the country.Even Nehru had sent Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee abroad on behalf of his government. Leaders like Sonia Gandhi are indifferent to such courtesies.

Mekedatu Project in Karnataka

This refers to the news item that Tamil Nadu State will move to apex court in wake of Karnataka State envisaging to build a dam across Cauvery River at Mekedatu within the territory of its State for Hydel Power and Drinking Water purpose for Bengaluru city. We condemn and deplore this move by them.Tamil Nadu should adhere to the final award of Cauvery Tribunal and it is not supposed to interfere in the internal matters of the State. Who is it to object, when Karnataka will seek approval from Central Government? Perhaps many are not aware that even after seven decades of our country’s Independence we are losing tremendous amount of hydel power because such type of projects are not being implemented due to political interference.

Even NRI’s praise Mode

What to talk of Indians living in India even the NRI’s are also appreciating the work of Shri Modi. They read every day about the actions that Shri Modi is taking in India to take the country forward. In fact all his team workers are working tirelessly since he became the Prime Minister. The hopeless situation created by Congress has already changed for the better. Indians living abroad are more in tune with things done in a clean and corruption free way , and they find in Modi a leader who can deliver on the promise of a clean and functional administration.

Gimmicks won’t Help Pak

(Organiser, 9.11.2014 ); Shri Sant Kumar Sharma in his article titled ‘Gimmicks won’t Help Pak’ in Organiser has given a new idea of celebrating ‘Vilay Divas’ or accession Day for Kashmir. No other State which acceded exactly in the same manner celebrates their accession day. Then why only J&K should celebrate it?
