Rakhi symbolises the bond of love, protection and brotherhood — Mohan Bhagwat

Intro: The significance of rakhi goes beyond the bounds of family and symbolises the bond of love, protection and brotherhood. It inspires us to fulfill our responsibilities towards the society, protect our culture and tradition.

“The festival of Raksha Bandhan is not the festival to just celebrate the relationship between a brother and a sister but to strengthen the family values and bond of love. The significance of rakhi goes beyond the bounds of family and symbolises the bond of love, protection and brotherhood. It is not about individual security. It inspires us to fulfill our responsibilities towards the society, protect our culture and tradition and promote an atmosphere of universal brotherhood paving the way for global peace and prosperity,” said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat while speaking at the Raksha Bandhan Utsav held in Bhubaneshwar on August 10. The function was organised by Sanskruti Surakshya Samiti (SSS) at Ravindra Mandap. Professor of Economics in Utkal University Dr Kumarbar Das and president of the Sanskruti Surakshya Shri Samiti Sanjit Panda also shared the dais.
Shri Bhagwat said Raksha Bandhan has national significance and celebration of the festival is one of the ways to protect the Hindu culture and the values enshrined in it.
He said, “The first step to progress is security. The country needs food, water, land, economic growth and above all, border security. Laxity in any of these areas will endanger national security and it is the responsibility of the people to ensure that economic development does not affect its culture as found in Western countries.”                 —Bureau Report

“The magnanimity of the deed is not important, the intention (bhavna) behind it is important. Therefore, the circulation figure of Rashtradeep is not much important for us. As the aim and objective of the weekly is to serve the people, connect them with their root and culture i.e. Hindutva and to help them eradicate the suffering, pain through information and views, it will go on its path with the very aim and objective in the years to come,” said RSS Sanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat while speaking at the valedictory of Golden Jubilee celebration of leading Odia weekly Rashtradeep in Cuttack.
He said if we go on doing right things continuously with a noble objective, it definitely brings change. “Yes, it is difficult for good to counter the evil, but ultimately the good prevails, Truth and Dharma wins,” he said. Quoting Swami Vivekananda he said, “Swamiji said there are numerous individuals who have worked for the society much vigorously than even Rama, Krishna and Jesus. But they didn’t ran after any recognition and served the society silently. Likewise we don’t work because of any recognition, silent work is our style.” He said, “all people living in Hindusthan are Hindus. Our worshipping style may be different, even some may not worship at all, we may talk in different languages, may stay at various part of the land, we may eat different food, but we are one, one nation, we are Hindus. Those who stay in England are English, all those are in Germany are German, all those who are in USA are Americans. Likewise all in Hindusthan are Hindus, so simple to understand. Hinduism is our Nationality. It’s a way of life.” Shri Bhagwat said that since 40,000 years or even much before that one type of specie was living on the Indo-Iranian plate. DNA mapping confirms this.
He said, “prior to 3,000 years or since the time immemorial, Bharat was the guide to the whole world in all fields. We helped others to grow. We never hurt any country. Therefore, others love us, they know our history, but we have forgotten. They are watching us with a great hope. But we are sleeping. We have forgotten our own glorious history, forgotten our swadharma. We must have proper knowledge about swa and dharma. Hinduism is swa of Hindu. When somebody tries to raise the swa of Hindu, people say it is communal. Hinduism or Hindutva is our Nationality. It is neither any worshipping style, nor any creed, place nor sect. It is an identity and nationality. With our body-mind-wit (intellect), we must try to move forward towards atman. This is our Dharma, this is Hindutva.”                                                  —Bureau Report
