World”s tallest Krishna temple

Work on the world”s tallest Krishna temple at 210 metres will begin on Janmashtami, August 18, on 70 acres of land in Vrindavan. This was announced at a press conference here Tuesday evening by Kolkata-based Infinity group chairman Ravindra Chamaria. The temple will encompass a huge hall for religious gatherings, a museum displaying the “Leelas of Sri Krishna,” a study-centre-cum library, a Krishna Leela Park and the 12 forests of Braj where Krishna frolicked. The Bangalore branch of Iskcon is collaborating on the project.
The temple complex will also have a residential colony with luxury villas and apartments in 11 towers. Chamaria said those who come to visit the Taj Mahal will now have an added attraction to stay longer to pay a visit to Vrindavan.

Hindu Munnani demo on temple issue?

Valluvar Kottam, a huge traffic junction in the heart of Chennai metropolitan city witnessed a strong contingent of over 1,000 saffron flag wielding workers of Hindu Munnani vociferously demanding proper upkeep of Hindu temple properties, puja and traditions. Incidentally, the State Government controls over 36,000 Hindu temples through its Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Board. In all the temples, the Hindu Munnani insisted appointment of properly trained Archakas of all communities and training of Mangala Vadyam (Naadaswaram) teams. The Chennai demonstration, part of a state-wide campaign, was led by Sri Muruganandam, State Organiser, Hindu Munnani, Sri G Karthikeyan, Vice-President, Sri Manohar, City Secretary and Sri R Krishnamurthy City Treasurer. n

‘Fatwa’ to kill Hindu leaders

A letter threatening to kill Hindu leaders written in Tamil was received by the Office bearers at Hindu Munnani headquarters at Chennai on July 30. The letter mentions the first or last letter of the names of Hindu leaders from various districts of the State (Chennai, Thanjavur, Coimbatore, Trichy, Virudhunagar, Tirupur, Tirunelveli and Sivagangai). The letter had been posted from Palakkad, Kerala State. On receiving the letter, Hindu Munnani City Secretary Sri Elangovan along with other office bearers lodged a complaint with the police. Security has been beefed up at the Hindu Munnani Karyalaya. It may be recalled that a similar letter was earlier received before the murder of Sri Suresh, Tiruvallur District President of Hindu Munnani.

Snail’s pace in Jihadi case investigation?

The Tamilnadu police are investigating murderous jihadi attacks on snail’s pace as shown by the case of the murder on June 18 of Thiruvallur Hindu Munnani President KP Suresh.
Two jihadis were approached by a teenage job seeker, goes the police story.
The jihadis, identified as Nazeer Jalaluddin and Abu Thahir, assured a job on condition of spying on and identifying Suresh to the murderers, which the lad did and the murder was committed.
A magistrate remanded the teenager and one Kaja Mohideen of Cuddalore (the district which has become notorious for ISIS links in Tamilnadu).                                    —VSK Chennai
