Centre wants report on CD issue?

$img_titleThe issue of JD(S) leader demanding money from MLC aspirant has taken a new dimension as the Union Home Ministry sought detailed report on it. Sources in Chief Minister”s office confirmed that the Centre has asked them to send complete report. It can be recalled that Former Chief Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy allegedly demanded Rs 20 crore from Vijugowda Patil, a JD(S) leader from Bijapur district for selecting him for Legislative Council.

KARNATAKA??

In a CD released by supporters of Vijugowda Patil, HD Kumaraswamy is allegedly heard telling that 40 JD(S) MLAs need one crore each and he can settle the issue with Rs 20 crore. The incident invited sharp criticism from all. Talking to Organiser, Opposition leader in Legislative Council and Former Chief Minister KS Eshwarappa said the CD issue is a disgraceful act. He demanded a clarification from HD Kumaraswamy. “I want HD Kumarawamy should clear the confusion he has created. The issue is disgraceful and an image of a politician has gone down. With a few corrupt politicians indulging in acts like this, an entire political system is being regarded as a safe place for shady deals,” Shri Eshwarappa said.

$img_titleP Dayanand, secretary of Bruhut Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Officers/Employees Association said political system is worsening day-by-day. “When Ramakrishna Hegde was Chief Minister, everyone used to respect Ministers as they were giving good governance. As the time pass by the values and ethics are missing in today”s politicians. I do not know what is going to happen to people of Karnataka,” Dayananda said with reference to high level corruption taking place in Karnataka.
Rajesh, a senior technocrat living at Sarjapur Road, also has similar opinion. “I live in Sarjapur Road and frequently visit Electronics City to go to my other office. But I suffered a lot by wasting my precious time waiting in long traffic jam indirectly caused by corrupt politicians.” Rajesh was mentioning about HD Deve Gowda and HD Kumaraswamy obstructing NICE Road project, which connects Electronic City and Bannerghatta Road. “I was told that Deve Gowda family owns large patch of land in and around NICE project and they did not allow NICE Road to complete the project on time. It is common man who suffers but political leaders enjoy power and accumulate money,” Rajesh added.

BJP retains Council Chairman Post?

With a strong political strategy, BJP managed to retain the post of Council Chairman but lost Deputy Chairman Post to JD (secular) in Karnataka on July 9. Both Chairman and Deputy Chairman posts belonged to BJP and Congress was trying to dislodge both Chairman and Deputy Chairman with the support of JD(S).
Sensing the dangerous situation, BJP leaders acted swiftly and offered the post of Deputy Chairman to JD(S) by asking them to support Chairman, DH Shankaramurthy. The plan was accepted by JD(S) leaders.
In the House of 75, following retirement of 8 BJP members, the strength of BJP in Upper House was reduced to 31 (including D H Shankaramurthy) and still remains as single largest party. Congress has 28 members and JD(S) has 12 members. There are four independents.
Earlier, both the Congress and the JD(S) held secret talks to unseat the posts held by BJP. Congress was keen on grabbing the chairman”s post and sought the support of JD(S) as it fell short by 10 votes. Congress had reportedly shortlisted its nominees Veeranna Mathikatti and Prathapchandra Shetty to the chairman”s post. However, BJP member Vimala Gowda has to resign from the post of Deputy Chairman as JD(S) member Puttanna will be made the Deputy Chairman.
The former Minister and a senior leader, DH Shankaramurthy, is likely to be appointed as a Governor in future as BJP State unit has recommended his name to Central government.
