Readers’ Forum: Health Agenda for new government

(Organiser,18.5.2014);This is with reference to the article ‘Health Agenda for New Government’ by Dr. Pravin Togadia in Organiser. It maybe added that health does not mean only medical facilities. In fact it is more important to lead healthy way of life, to prevent health problems. Dr. Togadia has forgotten to say anything about it. The new government headed by Shri Narendra Modi must promote healthy way of life. Yoga and Ayur Veda way of life, till now completely ignored by the government, need to be promoted
$img_titlein nation’s day to day life, by all possible means. Baba Ramdev has done commendable work in this direction. Shri Modi must take his help to give new direction to the nation for creating mentally and physically healthy people.

Instil Confidence in Minorities

Narendra Modi and BJP have been given a decisive mandate to bring relief to people and usher in good times. Feted for his Gujarat model for development, Modi must not waste his time and energy in unnecessary activities. Modi should realise that there are a lot of expectations from him. He must undertake measures which would instil confidence among Muslims, without appeasing them in the way other political parties have been guilty of. For that to happen anything sectarian or communal should not have any role in his government’s agenda. Modi has got a golden chance to redeem himself and prove that he is everyone’s Prime Minister.
VIPUL PANDEY, Nainital

Take decision sensibly

$img_titleWe are shocked to learn that the Central government is intending to setup CMB ( Cauvery Management Board) and CRC ( Cauvery Regulatory Committee) at the behest of the demand of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu ,Smt. Jayalalithaa. We all must be aware that Karnataka has been meted with a sheer injustice in the final verdict of Cauvery Tribunal by many factors such as percentage of allocation of water for agriculture , industrial and drinking water, distress formula, pattern and period of release, surplus water utilisation and its non-recurring accountability, etc. Karnataka government has already filed two petitions against it and the matter has to be settled reasonably. We appeal to the Central government to take decision sensibly and not to be in a haste. By this we hope that Karnataka will seek justice in Cauvery water sharing.

Every eye towards Modi

$img_title(Organiser
, 6.7.2014); This is with reference to the article ‘ Every eye towards Modi’ in Organiser by Shri MV Kamath. We expect lot things from our new Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. But we Bharatiyas forget that for ten long years a disappointingly weak government with no commitment to the welfare of the people has taken the country to a deep recession. Stagnation is worrisome but Modiji’s inspiring speeches across the length and breadth of the Bharat has brought new hope but it will take time for him and his colleagues to set things right. Growth, progress and stability cannot happen overnight. Co-operation of every citizen is the need of the hour. It takes a lot of time to recover for the lost time , for we ourselves are responsible for this sad state of affairs. Why did we tolerated a non-functional for ten long years? How come one family with surname of Gandhi—no way related to the great Mahatama Gandhi who sacrificed his life for the freedom of Bharat—was misused and misled the people to vote them to power twice? People have now voted wisely and given the country a break. Patience , perseverance and hard work are expected from one and all otherwise we will fritter away the opportunity given to us.
