Northern India

North India play a crucial role in making government at the centre. Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have registered a great win for the BJP+ in 2014 polls with 73 and 31 seats out of 80 and 40, respectively. Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh registered a clean sweep with total 9 seats of both states. Other parties are stopped in single digit only. In Jammu & Kashmir BJP has grabbed 3 seats.

 

Major upsets

Arun Jaitley could not register win inspite of the Modi wave.

Heavy weights like Sharad Yadav of JD (U), former Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar in Bihar and Salman Khurshid, Beni Prasad Verma, Shri Prakash Jaiswal, Raj Babbar suffered a humiliating defeat in UP.

BSP that suffered a total wipeout in the state. About 5,92,191 voters exercised 'None of the Above' (NOTA) option in UP.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Uttar Pradesh has first time seen the massive fall in the winning seats of Congress, i.e., only 2. While BSP could not open its accont.
  • 21 constituencies were Muslim dominated in UP but no Muslim candidate able to mark his place.
