Call it his popularity or expectations for change, BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Moid has found some unusual supporters in Banaras. Away from the heated debates taking place from BHU to the tea stalls, paan corners or media, a group of young Muslim women is visiting door-to-door to educate prominently Muslim women to vote for the nation and development. The group claims to have 39,000 women on roll. Divided into different teams they dedicate four hours everyday for the change that they expect after the victory of Narendra Modi. The main figures of this group are two young post graduate girls of Banaras Hindu University, Najma Pravin and Nazneen Ansari. They have done MA in conflict management. Najma is head of Bharatiya Awam Party (BAP) and Nazneen is head of Muslim Mahila Foundation. Apart from 2.5 lakh Ansaris, the city has 10,000 Shias, 10,000 Wahabis and some Deobandi. My inquisitiveness to see how these women are working drove me to Lallapura on April 26 where these women gathered at 10 am. They were about to disperse for different locations like Ansara Bagh, Badshah Bagh and Jaidpura on that day. I joined the group going to Ansara Bagh. The group had around five women who were further joined by around 30 more women on reaching Ansara Bagh. Then the group started visiting families. The first family they visited was of Afsana Begam. As the group started talking about Modi, she threw questions about Gujarat riots. But within minutes Najma, through her impressive oratory skills, satisfied her to the extent that she realised Modi has the wisdom to change the lives of every countryman. Starting from 1947 riots she concluded at Muzaffarnagar and explained how Muslims are being used as vote bank since decades. However the next family was found reluctant to meet the group. But the third family welcomed them wholeheartedly. The reason was some or their relatives live in Gujarat and they have informed about their prosperity occurred during Modi regime. n
