US rejects visa to Narendra Modi

2005: Modi was denied a diplomatic visa by United States. The B-1/B-2 visa that had previously been granted to him was also revoked under a Section of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which makes any foreign government official, who was responsible or ‘directly carried out, at any time, particularly severe violations of religious freedom’ ineligible for the Visa.
October 2012: The US and UK refused to deal with Modi for a decade but lifted its diplomatic boycott.
December 2012: Frank R Wolf, Representative, Republican of Virginia with 25 other members of Congress and urged the United States government ‘never to grant a visa to allow Chief Minister Modi to visit the United States under any circumstances.’
2013: Country Reports on Human Practices for 2012 of the US said Human Rights groups are biased and favoured Modi in 2002 riots.
July 2013: US President Barack Obama rejected the Visa after 65 members of the Indian Parliament allegedly signed a letter for the denial.?
