What
prompted Anna Hazare to jump into the camp led by Trinamool Congress? It is a ‘surprising development in the political arena’ as some of the political pundits have already expressed their opinion. Others say there is nothing surprising in it as the or TMC has been relentlessly trying to save them from the obvious ‘frustration’ they have been experiencing after the ‘Federal Front’ proposal of Mamata Banerjee has been flopped. This may be the reason for the TMC to welcome Anna. But this cannot be considered as a very sound proposition to bring home the purpose of the TMC.

The regional parties which have rejected the proposal of forming Federal Front saying that they may consider this after the results of Lok Sabha poll come out. Till then no commitment was available from any party. At the same time the political scenario had taken a dramatic twist. Those who were not ready to commit for a pre-election front with Mamata, had sided with the Third Front spearheaded by the left parties. Nitish, Naveen, Jayalalithaa, Deve Gowda etc. have deserted Mamata.

At this juncture, Mamata became all alone. Her dream for all India leadership got a serious jolt. But as luck had it, Jaganmohan Reddy of Andhra Pradesh came to the rescue of Mamata and held a long one-to-one talk on the future of national politics. Shockingly enough, as soon as Reddy reached New Delhi he was found in the cosy company of Prakash Karat. Obviously Mamata’s sweet dream was shattered.

Undaunted as she was in her character, she had started new scheme to win over the North-Eastern states of India. Here, of course, she had got an advantage the Gorkhaland problem was sorted out by her successfully. People living in this sector took it very seriously and their impression about Mamata was tremendously enhanced. She had started her tour of North-Eastern states from Tripura and Assam. These two states had got a considerable number of Bengali populations.

In the mean time, her efforts to woo leader like Anna Hazare, unexpectedly, had become fruitful. Anna had started praising Mamata and prescribed that she should be the “role model” of other national leaders who want to work for the prosperity of the country. At the same time, one should not take it for granted that Anna would give her wholehearted support as Anna had already mentioned in so many word that he would take part in the Mamata Brigade’s propaganda campaign only during the Parliamentary elections. It simply means that Anna is not going to be entangled in the political philosophy Mamata Banerjee.

Anna Hazare is not a person who can create an impact on the Bengalees. When Anna was on fast unto death in New Delhi, the people of this state was not very much impressed by his performance. But they admit that he created some sort of an impression in the minds of people living in upper and western India.Anna is not an orator. His own followers like Arvind Kejriwal others have abandoned him. Because Anna did not want that Kejriwal should establish a political Party (Aam Aadmi Party). The other important persons like Kiran Bedi, Baba Ramdev, General VK Singh etc. had also deserted AAP.

It is a general perception among the people of Bengal that she does not need any help from an outsider like Anna for winning elections in eastern India.Nevertheless, Anna’s presence by the side of Mamata would definitely give her a sentimental mileage. At this moment Mamata needs this very much as reaching out to the general mass of north and western India Anna would be great help.

And it was because of this reason; Mamata had sent his party general secretary, Mukul Roy and newly elected Rajya Sabha, KD Singh to Anna Hazare with an earnest request to help them out in the forthcoming elections. This meeting took place at the Mukul’s residence in Delhi. It is a known fact that Anna would definitely be great help to TMC to increase their vote-share in northern and western part of the country if not increase the number of elected members in Parliament.

But the Left-minded political pundits have explained this development in an altogether different angle. They say that there is a hidden motive behind this. It is a fact that till today Anna has never uttered a word against the major political opponent of the Congress —BJP. The other functionaries of Anna-movement, who had already severed their relationship withAAP for the simple reason that did not like the policy of Kejriwal against the BJP. So it was a very shrewd move on the part of TMC that they want keep a line open, though clandestinely, to have dialogue with BJP in case there is a hung Parliament after the election. Apparently this proposition is an impossible and utopian idea. But after the most successful meeting of Narendra Modi at Kolkata Brigade Parade Ground, things have taken a different shape. But then the political pundits are harping on the adage which says“politics make strange bed-fellows”. Let us wait and see.

Attacks on North-Eastern Students continues…

We
are in the phase of transition which unfortunately offers the smooth ground for moral slips. Individuals are repeatedly failing to understand the value of respecting humanity and women. The peoples’ mentality is polluting with corruption, rape and social arrogance based on regional differentiation.

Back to back incidents related to North-East when the two cousin boys, who belong to Manipur were allegedly attacked at Madangir in South Delhi by a biker and another one which is more embarrassing of a 14 year old girl was raped by two men hailing from her state in Mahipalpur area in South Delhi on February 7. The two accused of rape in their 20s and residents of Tejpur, Assam have been arrested. The case was registered at Vasant Kunj police station. The thing which is more embarrassing for Delhiites and the Delhi Government is that the incident comes little after an attack led to the death of Arunachal student Nido Tania.

Meanwhile, students from North- East staged a protest against the incident outside Vasant Vihar police station. Such type of condemnable incidents are lead to grow outrage among the people who are agitated over the failure of law enforcement agencies to provide a safe environment for NE to move freely and without fear in the city. Such incidents are shameful for the nation and to teach them a lesson and punished strictly.

It’s not Racism but Arrogance and Ignorance about NE — Tarun Vijay

BJP leader and MP Rajya Sabha, who had taken up the issue dedicatedly, that “Delhi should have been the safest place for my child. But he was ruthlessly killed here? Why? Just becausehe didn’t look like Delhites, he lookeddifferent. He was the only MP invited to offer prayers with the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh at Jantar Mantar on February 15 where he demanded strict action against the culprits and assured that entire India stands with the parents of Nido and all NE friends. Here are some excerpts of an interview with Shri Tarun Vijay on Nido’s unfortunate death and the hurt felt by NE people.

What are the reasons of discrimination with NE people?

Problems of NE is because of the mind-set, lack of knowledge and our narrow thoughts towards the North-Eastern. Even we don’t pronunciate their names properly. In Most of the TV channels and newspaper the spelling of the Nido’s name was flashed incorrectly . After independence of 67 years there is no railway and border areas are still deprived from roadways. It is basically arrogance and ignorance not racism. Even in our syllabus there is no information about the North-East patriots. Nobody knows about the Rani Gaidinliu, U Kiang Nangbah, Bir Tikerndrajit singh and the heroes who fight for nation from Arunachal and Manipur in kargil War. Historical records substantiate that since Mahabharata period this region was in close contact with the people from mainland. During vacation most of the people want to got to Shimla, Manali, Nepal or Singapore but we never want to go to the one of the best place in world ‘North-East’.

What is the way out to have corrections made in this matter?

There is whole and sole mantra given by Param Pujya Guruji is – Tu Main ek rakt. Poorvanchal ho ya dakshinanchal, hum sab bhartiya ek rakt, ek jaatee, ek nasl, ek poorvajon ko santaan aur ek bahu-yamee, bahurangee sanskriti ko man ne wale hai, and to provocate the feelings, there is an urgent need to introduce the history of NE to be included in the syllabus through which the coming generation and rest of Bharat know about about NE.

The need of the hour is for the mainlanders is to understand that the mainstream of India flows from North-east. Only because of their face discrimination, different living style,we cant ignore them. They are as Indians as we are.

We need to give special attention to NE in terms of education, electicity, water, road, international level airports and many more. There is a need to control on terrorism and Bangladeshis intruder in these areas and this all can done by a steely personality. We need a leadership with steel nerves and noble intentions to heal the wounds and punish the culprits. Integration of the hearts is much more important and long lasting than spending money without the feelings of oneness.
