The use of mobile phones and operation of Facebook (FB) by the CPM men, jailed in connection with the murder of rebel CPM leader TP Chandrasekharan, have led to a political earthquake in Kerala. The startling incidents occurred in Kozhikode jail. The accused posted their own photographs on their FB account from jail. Immediately Jail DGP ordered for an enquiry. Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan made a visit to the jail.  Police recovered several phones with internet connection which were hidden in latrine pipes; some others buried in the soil. Later on scientific studies proved that more than 10,000 calls were made from a single phone used in the jail ! Lot of overseas calls had been made and received ! Bomb squad and dog squad were deployed for the searching operation. The jail rule violation was unearthed by the sting operation of a Malayalam TV channel.

Posting on the Facebook of December 1 read ‘today is the anniversary of killing the worst guy (naradhaman) by us’. It obviously coincided with Jayakrishnan Balidan Day. Jayakrishnan Master, the late state Vice-President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, was brutally killed on December 1, 1999, in front of the 6th standard students while he was teaching them in the class room of East Mokeri School, Thalassery. It was also found that the remanded CPM men had used the same sim cards in the jail which they were using during the days of TP Chandrasekharan murder.

The matter has been rocking Kerala since the last few days; even the Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan’s position is shaking due to the fierce attack from his opponents from within as well as from outside the Congress and UDF. Congress veteran K Sudhakaran MP denounced the Home Minister in strong words which was later endorsed by KPCC chief Ramesh Chennithala. Sudhakaran demands Home Minister’s immediate resignation for this blatant violation of jail rules  and if not then he would not contest the next Parliament election.  Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), the second largest partner in the ruling Congress-led United Democratic Front  (UDF) alliance, has demanded that the issues in the home ministry should be discussed in the UDF. IUML leader ET Mohammed Basheer MP alleged that UDF is in a mess. The authorities are getting information about the anomalies in the jail only through the media!

Then came the controversial statement of Jail DGP Dr Alexander Jacob, he said, the allegation is mysterious and has come up when the verdict of TP murder is expected soon. This is an attempt to influence the judiciary so that the accused would get at least a few months’ imprisonment even though they are acquitted in the TP case !

It is reported that Shafi, the 5th accused in the TP murder case, had been in touch with gold smuggle accused Fayaz several times. The said calls were made between August 4 and 6, 2013.

State Human Right Commission (SHRC) has registered a suo moto case regarding DGP’s claim. They have sent notices to principal secretary of the home ministry and Jail DGP asking them to submit explanation and copies of the said instruction if there is any.

Pinarayi’s persona non grata and Opposition Leader VS Achuthanandan, “removed” PB member, vehemently opposed Jail DGP and attacked the TP murder accused in strong words.  Jail DGP, in his controversial press meet, had stated that several prisoners had threatened the jail staff when their demands for good food, etc. were not met. But, despite reporting to the ministry, no actions were taken !  CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) has restarted their “ritual” agitation demanding the resignation of the CM. This time a symbolic blockade of Cliff House, the official residence of the CM. All these developments vindicate  Sangh Parivar stand that Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) Government and CPM leadership are hand in glove. When CPM goes soft towards CM Oommen Chandy in Solar Gate, they get the quid pro quo in SNC-Lavalin and TP Chandrasekharan cases in the form of slow pedaling by the government and free-for-all liberty for CPM prisoners in the jail. State BJP chief V Muraleedharn and his colleagues have pointed out this categorically.  This unholy  nexus empowers CPM to unleash murder politics against RSS  and BJP.
