Shri Kalyan Singh, former powerful Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and senior BJP leader, feels that till the Muslims remain a vote bank, they would be ditched by political parties. He appealed to them to take decisions following their inner voice. About the present condition of the country he said the young voters would be the vehicle of change in the country giving BJP full majority under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi. In an exclusive interview to Organiser representative Surendra Singhal, he said the political scenario of the country resembled to that of 1977 and the country is heading towards a big change.
How do you see the political scenario in the country?
The political scenario resembles to that of 1977 when the people not the parties fought the Lok Sabha polls. This time too, people will be fighting the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. The youth is committed to change the system. They look at Narendra Modi as a leader who could deliver them from all the ills and negative politics. He has become their centre of hope and aspiration. They feel that the wave of change strengthened due to Modi and therefore, people have committed themselves to anoint him as Prime Minister.
Some Muslim leaders accuse the SP, BSP and Congress of frightening the Muslims in the name of BJP and obtain their votes. Comment.
I would like to appeal to the Muslims to ponder over it and take a decision using their discretionary power. Till the Muslims remain a vote bank they would be ditched by the political parties.
What would be your role in the Lok Sabha elections?
I would fulfill whatever responsibility the party gives me with full commitment and dedication. I would use all my strength to push BJP to the top position. I am not interested in becoming Prime Minister or Chief Minister. My efforts would be to make BJP a number one party and strengthen its nationalist thoughts. The policy of appeasement at the Centre and the State was detrimental to the nation and Uttar Pradesh both.
How do you see the worsening situation of cane growers in Uttar Pradesh?
The farmers are being subjected to great difficulty. BJP has demanded that the farmers be paid their dues immediately and support price of cane should be raised to Rs 350/- Cane growers are feeling ditched at present.
