Prof Manohar works as a Lecturer in Government Degree College Jadcherla under Mahboobnagar district of Andhra Pradesh. He is an ABVP activist since 1979. He is also known for deep study on social harmony. Andhra Pradesh State Government has given him Best Teacher Award in 2007. In 1987, during the hunger problem of Palamur, he led a “hunger yatra” for awakening and in 1992-95 he successfully led a mass movement under ‘Praja Sangharshan Samiti’ for water problem of Palamur. Till date he held various responsibilities of ABVP as city secretary, Vibhag Pramukh, State vice president, State president and so on. From 2002 to 2008 he was national vice president.
Shri Shreehari Borikar is basically from Nagpur and is active in the organisation since 1990. He did B.Com and DBM from Nagpur. He played an important role in Vidarbha taking ABVP and student movement at its rise, while he was State organising secretary. To consolidate patriotic feeling among students especially in border and sensitive areas like Jammu & Kashmir (J&K), he spent more than six years in J&K as organising secretary. He fought for the employment and educational rights of student against biased attitude of J&K Government. He made sure the strong and active participation of students in Amaranth agitation against wrongful decision. “While doing practice, if every doctor comes forward to give free consultation to one individual economically deprived patient every day and takes care of him, a big change will surface in the society,” said VHP president Dr Pravin Togadia, while addressing a gathering of doctors in Cuttack recently.
He said a perception is gaining ground in the country that medical fraternity is only interested in making money rather than serving the deprived. This image can only be overcome if doctors come forward and serve the poor consistently without monetary gain. Counting numbers he said there are 30,000 specialist doctors in the country. If these doctors start providing free consultation to a single deprived patient daily, 30,000 needy people could be benefitted every day. In this way in one single year, more than one crore patient would be benefitted, Dr Togadia emphasised.
Stressing the urgent need of expanding various sewa projects throughout the country, he said every Hindu should contribute for the cause. Speaking about the priority of VHP in reaching out to the poor and needy through its service activities, he said the VHP runs 2 lakh Sewa projects throughout the country in the service of suffering humanity. Saying that more than one lakh students are enrolled in VHP run schools throughout the country, he said adding these projects has really come a long way to stop conversion activities unleashed by Christian missionaries in some areas of the country.
“The need of the hour is to start more projects and all Hindus should come forward to help so that we can take care of our neglected brethren and effectively stop all conversion activities from Indian soil”, Dr Togadia added. Organised by the Charak Swastha Seva Prakalpa of VHP Odisha unit, among others senior doctor Ashok Agrawal, Dr Anang Dwivedi, eminent social worker Kamal Agrawal, VHP’s Central Secretary and All India Satsang Pramukh Dr Basanta Rath, VHP prant seva pramukh Harish Pradhan were also present on this occasion. Dr Ramesh Chandra Das, President, Charak Swastha Seva Prakalpa presided over the function. Earlier in the day Dr Togadia attended a Dharma Mahasabha and programme to unveil the statue of famous saint and poet Bhima Bhoi at Kalarahanga Village in the outskirt of Bhubaneswar.

RSS swayamsevaks of Balthila village under Bantwal Taluk near Mangalore on November 22 dedicated a newly constructed house to the family of Soumya, who was murdered after rape by anti-social elements on February 23 this year. Soumya hails from a very economically deprived family, which was needed immediate socio-economic help. The swayamsevaks immediately joined hands to help the family. Beyond the economic help, in the name of Soumya’s mother and three other sisters, a fixed deposit of Rs 25,000 each was deposited in the bank. Shri Rama Vidya Kendra, one of noted Educational Institute run by swayamsevaks, donated Rs 1 lakh and also offered free education for all the sisters, till they complete their study, whichever course they want to study. BJP workers collected Rs 2 lakh and helped in construction of the house. Guruji Swasahaya Sangh donated Rs 35,000 for constructing the toilet.
Expressing concern over the loan waiver of Rs one lakh crore to the corporate, the Akhil Bharatiya Grahak Panchayat demanded bringing all the Private-Public Partnership (PPP) projects under the RTI ambit. The Parishad also said that any developer utilising bank loan or availing any Government concession should also be brought under the RTI Act.
In a letter to RBI Governor Shri Raghuram Rajan on November 17, 2013, the Grahak Panchayat’s Delhi president Shri BS Sachdev drew his attention to a newspaper report of November 17, 2013 and the presentation made by Shri KC Chakrabarty, Dy. Governor RBI at an annual banker’s conference Mumbai.
The letter said in the last 13 years, the banks have written off about Rs. 1 lakh crore and 95 per cent of these are large loans sanctioned by Board of a committee. Further, between 2007-2013 credit to 10 large corporate groups has more than doubled leading to higher NPAs. This media disclosure has hit the consumers minds who are already facing record inflation and malpractices. Before write-offs, the banks did not consider even mediation leading to win-win situation. Therefore, this serious offence needs detailed scrutiny and action so as to instill confidence among consumers regarding fair and secured operations in banking. Hence status must be made public as part of transparency. Moreover, it signals precautions while dealing new licences, the letter said.
The Bharat Parikrama Yatra by veteran Sangh Pracharak Shri Sitaram Kedilaya completed 5,000 km walk on November 21. The Yatra is in Punjab and is getting warm response. It reached Chusalewad village of Tarantaran district on November 21. The Yatra had entered Punjab on October 27 after visiting villages of Haryana. The Yatra will be in Punjab till December 10. On December-11, it will enter Jammu & Kashmir. Began on August 9, 2012 from Kanyakumari, the Yatra aims at the uplift of rural life.
BMS staged demonstration at Block headquarters of Odisha on November 22 against price rise, non-implementation of labour laws, safety at work place, etc. After the protest the BMS representatives submitted memorandums to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister Navin Patnaik through Block Development Officers.
“The BMS workers staged demonstration in more than 240 Block headquarters in Odisha to highlight plight of workers and ordinary people,” BMS State president Gokulananda Jena told Organiser. “Basic labour laws pertaining to payment of wages, working hour, social security in working place are not being implemented. Even the workers engaged in implementation of ICDS, NRHM programmes who play a pivotal role in rural areas are not paid minimum wages not to speak of other social security measures,” Shri Jena added (Samanwaya Nanda)
