Match fixing scandal foiled by public sentiments

In a frivolous attempt of image makeover and undermining the constitutional provisions of a parliamentary democracy, the Yuvraj of Congress caught Lalu Prasad Yadav on a wrong shot through his “nonsense” drama. After the dynastical sycophants immediately towed the line, they did not realise that their own player has run them out. The last attempt of the Government de facto led by Sonia Gandhi to save the wicket of committed, corrupt and criminal pseudo-secularist went in vain and with the verdict on fodder scam, Lalu Prasad Yadav is as of now stands disqualified and probably will be out of Indian politics for five long years.

This whole episode was a classic case of match fixing. The third umpire (Supreme Court), after observing replays of many corruption cases over the years, bowled a yorker verdict that ordered immediate disqualification of an MP or MLA convicted in a criminal case punishable by two years or more. The team Congress, with its experience of playing many such matches in Indian politics is used to many match-fixing charges over the years. It first tried to play safe by bringing a Bill in the Parliament to nullify the verdict with a hope that Opposition will also succumb to the temptation. With the pressure from Opposition teams, the Bill was referred to the leg umpire, Standing Committee. When the Government realised that the discussion and deliberation on such an important issue of saving their men will take its own course, they decided to use the power play of bringing an ordinance. The ordinance was conceptualised in the core team meeting, so captain and the coach (Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh) were party to it.  In a perfectly set match to save Lalu a cleaned image fixer (Ajay Maken) was about to drop the catch. Suddenly, an extra-player (Rahul Gandhi) dived into the ground and while playing to the gallery caught a clumsy looking but spectacular catch. This adventurous (nonsense) act bowled out many players at a time.

Rashid Massod and Lalu Prasad Yadav were the obvious victims of this catch. The Congress Party, which was out hit-wicket by its own player, is another victim. Though the extra payers in the team who are only used to pose in advertisements of Bharat Nirman are giving impression of huge moral victory, the spectators in this match know the role of this player. At the best, Rahul Gandhi can be considered as a prosecution witness in this scandal. He would have been man of the match if he had taken the position when the fixers were hatching the conspiracy. However, the biggest loser is the Indian parliamentary system. Prime Minister and his Cabinet is supreme executive authority as per the Indian Constitution. Both these authorities are undermined by this one ‘nonsense’ act. Though Indian democracy has won for the time being, the real conspirators are still running the show.  Unless people stop supporting them and press the reject button this infected lot of criminals will keep entertaining us in the name of democratic 5-5 over match in each election.
