Uttarakhand BJP’s State executive meeting

Special focus to be on newly enrolled voters

Arvind Kumar

undefinedUttarakhand BJP unit has drawn up an elaborate 2014 Lok Sabha election plan to ensure their win on all five Lok Sabha seats in the Himalayan State. The two-pronged election plan – to expose inefficiency, corruption, deception and all-round failure of Vijay Bahuguna led Congress government, and to publicise positive results achieved by the earlier BJP-led government through fanning out party workers door to door in the State—was hammered out in a two-day party conclave held on Aug 24-25 at Ramnagar in Nainital. Most of the party leaders expressed their determination about throwing out the inept, corrupt and anti-people Congress government.

The BJP president Tirath Singh Rawat said the party has prepared a plan of a series of activities till the December end. The party is going to organise two mammoth rallies at Dehradun and Haldwani in December this year in which Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s national election campaign Chief Narendra Modi would be present along with other senior party leaders from New Delhi. Shri Rawat said Vijay Bahuguna government’s slipshod handling of natural disaster in Kedarnath on June 17 last would be the one of the major political planks in 2014 Lok Sabha polls. A political resolution to the effect has been passed by the State executive. Most of the party workers have endorsed Shri Rawat’s plan to make the most out of Bahuguna’s inept handling of the crisis in which people living in the Valleys of Ganga, Mandakini and Alaknanda have suffered the most.

The party leaders have pointed out the State government has failed even in coordinating with the Union Government and its agencies including the Army, Air Force, Navy and Central government’s bureaucrats. The entire nation sent relief material to Uttarakhand government, still the State bureaucracy has misappropriated it for its own personal benefit.

Addressing the conclave, BJP MP Radha Mohan Singh, in-charge of Uttarakhand party unit, claimed that Narendra Modi’s rising popularity will make BJP win an absolute majority in Lok Sabha polls; so he urged the party leaders and workers to remain united. He also urged party activists to mobilise mass opinion in favour of BJP and the good works done by it when in government. In the meeting, most of the party leaders were assigned with specific tasks to be completed till December 31.  Radha Mohan Singh also urged party workers to focus on newly enrolled persons in the party fold who number about 1.5 lakh in Uttarakhand.
