Vidya Bharati schools continue to excel in Odisha
Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir schools run by the Shikhya Bikas Samiti, affiliated to the Vidya Bharati, continues to perform exceptionally well in secondary examinations in Odisha. This year 11,432 students from 897 Shishu Mandir schools appeared in the Board Examination 2013 and recorded the pass percentage of 98.52, which is much higher than the overall pass percentage of the State. This year the overall pass percentage of the State has been 73.11 per cent.
A total of 128 Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir schools recorded cent per cent result. The percentage of students getting first class is 76.60 per cent. The percentage of students getting second class is 16.65 per cent.
The Shikhya Vikash Samiti organised a programme ‘Medhabi Abhinandan 2013’ at Bhanja Kala Madap in Bhubaneswar to felicitate 70 students, who have secured more than 94 per cent marks.
Addressing the function the chief speaker Dr Govind Prasad Sharma, national president of Vidya Bharati said the schools run by the Vidya Bharati are doing exceptionally well, not only in Odisha but also throughout the country. Shri Ajit Tripathy, Election Commissioner of Odisha, was the chief guest on the occasion.
Shikhya Bikas Samiti State secretary Dr Saroj Kumar Hati said the holistic and value based curriculum, an edifying atmosphere, strong teacher-student relationship and strict monitoring system are the main reasons for the success of the Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir schools. Dr Prafulla Mahapatra, eminent educationist, also spoke on the occasion. Shikhya Bikas Samiti president Dr Banchhanidhi Panda presided over the function. Madhya Pradesh Governor apprised of Sangh activities
Any activity uniting the society should be promoted

Under the special contact drive being carried out by Rashtriya Swayam-sevak Sangh, a delegation of senior Sangh leaders met Madhya Pradesh Governor Shri Ramnaresh Yadav on April 25 to apprise him of the Sangh activities. The delegation included the Akhil Bharatiya Sahprachar Pramukh Shri J Nandakumar, Prant Sampark Pramukh Shri KL Chatar and Shri Dipak Sharma of Pragya Pravah.
Shri Nandakumar apprised the Governor of the resolutions passed at the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha in Jaipur in March. He urged the Governor to attract the attention of the Government of India to the atrocities being perpetrated on the Hindus in Bangladesh and Pakistan and also to urge the government to make proper arrangements for the stay of the Hindus fled from both these countries. He also apprised the Govenor of the sewa activities being undertaken by the swayamsevaks across the country. The activities being carried out under the banner of Swami Vivekananda Shardha Shati Samiti were also explained.
The Governor shared his experience of a visit to Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra in Kanyakumari. He stressed the need that any activity, which is uniting the society, should be promoted and expanded. He said the RSS and all its associated organisations should take steps for it.

VHP demands arrest of BSP MP
Heavily criticising the anti-national act of the BSP MP Shafiqurrahman Barq who boycotted the national song Vandemataram in the Parliament, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad demanded his immediate arrest and debar from the Parliament. Taking serious note on the issue, VHP Delhi State general secretary Satyendra Mohan demanded that “the MP should immediately be taken into custody for his anti-national act. “The Lok Sabha Speaker should debar him from the Membership of the Parliament and the BSP chief Mayawati should expel him from her party,” he said.
The VHP adopted a resolution on this issue at its meeting held on May 11 and expressed concern over the silence of the political parties on the sensitive issue. The VHP said the MP has insulted the national song in the Parliament and thus should be punished for the offence. The VHP termed it as an extreme case of Muslim appeasement.

Lecture on water discipline by DRI
Arrest wastage; make best use of every drop
Deendayal Research Institute (DRI) organised a lecture in New Delhi on May 10 on water discipline. The lecture was delivered by noted water expert Dr Sudhirendra Sharma. Dr Sharma said water discipline means arresting wastage of water and making best use of every drop available. He said water scarcity needs everybody’s attention and we all have to understand how we are wasting the water. We waste hundreds of litres of water every day even while shaving or brushing the teeth. Not only this, the flush that we use after going to toilet, also wastes about 14 litres of water every time. We all need to think of it.
He said the capitalism treats the people only as consumers. Therefore, everything is being sold. The sale of water is part of the same game plan. The nation needs changes in such policies urgently. The prime reason of the growing water problem is the system. The water availability in 2001 was 18 lakh litres, which reduced to 15 lakh litres in 2011. There is very possibility that it might have got reduced to 10 lakh litres. Despite that we do not seem ready to preserve water. We take water from the rivers, but do not want to think how to keep the rivers alive by keeping them clean and ensuring minimum flow there.
Speaking on the occasion senior journalist Shri Atul Jain said our ancestors followed the strict water discipline. That is why they made adequate arrangements for its preservation. Many other eminent people of Delhi were also present on the occasion. (FOC)

Celebrate festivals with
deprived families—Indresh Kumar
Hindu Jagran Manch organised a Sarana Sanatan Maha-sammelan at Mahadani Maidan of Bedon in Ranchi on May 10. More than 6,000 people from different Vanvasi communities of 121 villages attended the Sammelan.
Addressing the gathering RSS National Executive member Shri Indresh Kumar appealed to the participants to adopt at least one poor family on every Sarhul or Deepavali and celebrate the festival with them. “If we are able to help at least one family in a year, it will help many people to join the mainstream of development. This is the best way to make this Sammelan relevant. It is the responsibility of the Hindus that they help their deprived brethren. There is no point expecting anything good from the bureaucrats or political leaders in a situation where our society and the nation stand today. It is like searching oil in the desert. We can make Bharat a superpower only by following our cultural values. The contribution of everyone is must in this pious task,” Shri Indresh Kumar said. He said today the country has prosperity, education and also the scientific thinking, but we are still not behaving like the human beings. He appealed to the people to be alert for preserving their cultural values and protect the cow, Gayatri, Gita, water, forest, land, environment, dharma, sanskar through their daily act. The national pride will be restored with the help of the society and not through the government, he added.
