Sarkaryavah presents Purushottam Samman to achievers in organic farming

1THE Five Year Plan system that was implemented without knowing the true spirit of Bharat is the reason for the sad state of our villages today. Now when the Green Revolution has completed 50 years, it is right time to review the pros and cons of the Five Year plans,” said RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi, while felicitating the achievers of organic farming at Theerthahalli on April 10.

Shri Jayaram Patidar, a progressive farmer of Madhya Pradesh, was felicitated on the occasion with Purushottam Samman. Pejawar Swami Shri Vishveshwara Teertha, chairman of the Agriculture Research Foundation Shri Subbarao and trustees Shri AS Anand and Shri VK Arunkumar were also present on the occasion. The award has been instituted by the Agriculture Research Foundation of Kuruvalli in the name of the sage of farming Shri Purushottama Rai. Prior to presenting the Samman, Shri Patidar and his family members were brought onto the stage in a decorated bullock cart. The procession started at Gayatri Mandir and passed through Kuvempu circle and reached the Suvarna Sahakara Bhavan.

Shri Joshi further said “Bharat tried to bring about a green revolution by excessive use of hybrid breeds and use of chemicals but in this process we lost many original ideas of our indigenous farming techniques. Farmers have become desperate today due to the directionless agricultural policies. Many insects that supplemented farming were lost due to the use of insecticides. Due to this the government is now trying to enforce plans for deployment on insects,” he rued. He said the farmers, who have lost direction in the field of agriculture should opt for organic farming.

Pejawar Swami Shri Vishveshwar Theerth said the cow should have been our national animal. But by making the Tiger as our national animal, violent attitude has been increased among the people. Environmental campaign started in those days when Bhagwan Shri Krishna defeated the serpent Kalinga in the Yamuna River. Today the Kalinga has been replaced by factories. The condition today is such that people have to be told not to use river water as it has become poisonous, he said.

Accepting the Sanman Shri Patidar said we should grow all food products needed in our daily life using the organic farming methods and thus aim to become self-reliant. “Many people ask me what is the aim of my life. I have not got an answer to this till date. But it is clear that I have found peace through hard work and rendering service to the cow. Since I started serving the cow and practicing organic farming from the last five years, neither me nor any of my family
members have been to a hospital or run errands to the bank,” he explained.
Shri Patidar further said through multiple usage of products based on cattle produce and panchagavya one can become self-reliant in maintaining the goshala and rearing of cattles. “I have proven and demonstrated this in Shri Krishna Balarama Goshala, which is in my native city of Chakaroda,” he added. He said the excessive use of chemicals is turning the land poisonous. To revive such land, safeguarding the cow is indispensable,” he said.
