RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sewa Pramukh Shri Suhasrao Hiremath appealed to the voluntary organisations to work selflessly if they really wish to transform the society

7RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sewa Pramukh Shri Suhasrao Hiremath appealed to the voluntary organisations to work selflessly if they really wish to transform the society. He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of a two Sewa Sangam organised in Guwahati on February 24. According to Shri Surendra Talkhedkar, Prant Sewa Pramukh of RSS, over 50 voluntary organisations working in north-eastern states attended the two-day event and shared their experience.

Swami Sadhnananda Maharaj of Bharat Sevashram Sangh was chief guest at the inaugural session on February 23. Joint co-convener of Rashtriya Sewa Bharati Shri Gurusharan Prasad was also present on the occasion. RSS Kshetra Pracharak Shri Ulhas Kulkarni and Sanghachalak of North Assam Dr Umesh Chakravarty were also present on the occasion.
Shri Hiremath emphasised on real meaning of sewa and the objective to be achieved through these sewa activities. He stressed on the need of providing service to the needy without favour or fear and in a selfless manner.
Inaugurating the Sangam Swami Sadhananda exhorted the people to render selfless service to the needy and neglected sections of the society. We must work in tandem with each other so that better service could be provided to those who need to be brought up at par with rest of the society, he said.

Shri Gurusharan Prasad dwelt on the role of Sewa Bharati and the concept of sewa provided by the Rashtriya Sewa Bharati. A book titled Arogya Mitra Curriculum, written by Dr Dilip Sarkar under Arogya Mitra Scheme was released by Swami Sadhanand. Dr Sarkar inaugurated the exhibition of sewa activities undertaken by the participating agencies in various fields of social life in Assam. Discussions were held on various aspects of sewa with the participating delegates of different sewa organisations presenting and sharing their experiences with each other. Shri Pramod Prakash Shrivastava, IPS (retd) and presently representative of the Government of India on the North East Council was the special guest at the concluding ceremony. Shri Abani Das, Dean of Guwahati College of Architecture and Shri Pankaj Bora, Secretary of NGO Association of Assam were present on the occasion. The organisations and individuals engaged in service activities in their respective regions were felicitated on this occasion with a memento and a tradition sarai and gomocha
