“INDIAN system of education provides not only information based learning, but also ‘samskar based’ learning, which strengthens our emotional ties with the family, society, nation, motherland and environment. For example, Geography can inform us about the material features of our country and the river Ganga , but it is our samskar-based learning that makes us realise that India is our motherland and that Ganga is our Ganga Maiya – the fountainhead of our life.”
This was stated by Shri Kalraj Mishra, the National Vice-President of Bhartiya Janata Party, while addressing a large gathering at Patti in Pratapgarh, about 200 kms from the State headquarters. Speaking as the chief guest at the annual function of Ram Narayan Inter College, Shri Mishra said that the students imbibe the spirit of nationalism in schools only, as was also apparent by the group song kashmir hamara hai sung by the senior students of the school.
The ‘samskar’ of nationalism only can save the nation at this critical juncture when certain elements are clamoring against the dreaded terrorist Afzal Guru who targeted our temple of democracy – the Parliament, Shri Kalraj Mishra said, adding that we get inspiration from the life of our great ancestors like Swami Vivekananda who established the glory of our motherland in the West. His life gives us the message of struggle and perseverance. Shri Mishra said that the cultural programmes, teachers’ conduct and disciplined atmosphere of the educational institutions provides conducive environment to ‘samskar-based’ learning and ideal personality development.
The former Cabinet minister in BJP government Shri Brajesh Sharma said that earlier we used to demand commercial education for the new generation so as to remove unemployment, but now we have come to realise that we must focus on moral education, considering the lowest level to which our new generation seems to have descended these days. The former State minister Shri Moti Singh condemned the Muslim leaders who are trying to give a communal touch to the murder of CO Kunda Ziyaul Haq. He said that we must beware of such divisive forces in society and work for national integration and unity.
