Condolence meeting in Dehradun

NITYANAND Swami was an idealist, philosopher, a good politician and a good leader. He had all the characteristics of an ideal Swayamsevak. He spent 69 years in active politics and was revered by all cutting across party lines. His entire life was blotless and he set many examples for the modern politicians,” said national organising secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Shri Ramlal while paying tribute to former Chief Minister of Uttarkhand Nityananda Swami who passed away in Dehradun on December 12. The condolence meeting was organised at  the Hindu National Inter College on December 24.

In his homage, Shri Ramlal cited examples from the Ramayana and said Sri Ram remained calm and cool when he was asked to go to the exile for 14 years. He did not lose heart or patience in such a difficult time and when he was offered a crown of Ayodhya then too he was not enthusiastic at all. The exile or the crown did not bring any change in the mind of Sri Ram. In the same way when Nityananda Swami became the first Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, he did not show any sign of arrogance. He remained in touch with the common people. And when he stepped down from the post of Chief Ministership, he did not take it to his heart. His entire political life has been blotless. It is an example which should be emulated by the modern politicians, he added.

RSS Uttarakhand Prant Karyavah Shri Shashikant Dixit said he had close relation with Swamiji and he was greatly impressed by his behaviour and views. Swamiji played various roles in different fields apart from politics and he was an inspiration to people in all fields. He participated in the Quit India Movement at the tender age of 14. He had shown exemplary oratory skills and leadership qualities. Not only was he one of the most distinguished presidents of the college’s student union he was also declared the most outstanding student for the year 1950-51.

Former Chief Minister BC Khanduri said Swamiji lived a simple life and by all accounts he truly was a gentlemen politician. He will always be remembered for his ideals. Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said he always drew inspiration from the life of Swamiji. Swamiji fought for the interest of the labourers and the common men. By 1964 he had successfully organised and led more than 25 trade unions. When he became first CM he gave absolute freedom to his ministers. He was not only a visionary but also a missionary. Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Vijay described Swamiji a great leader. “His greatest quality was to be ever available for the common men to solve their problems. He was a man of excellent human values,” Shri Vijay added.

Newly elected MP from Tehri Lok Sabha constituency Maharani Mala Rajyalaxmi Shah, State BJP president Bishan Singh Chufaal , former ministers Madan Kaushik, Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat, Shri Prakash Pant, Shri Tilakraj Behad, Shri Mohan Singh Rawat Gaonwasi, Harbans Kapoor, senior party leaders Shri Hira Singh Bist, Shri Naresh Bansal, Shri Prem Chand Aggarwal, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, Shri Sahadev Pindir, Shri Ganesh Joshi, Shri Teerath Singh Rawat, Mayor Shri Vinod Chamoli, Shri Umesh Aggarwal, Acharya Balkrishan of Patanjali Yogapeeth and many other distinguished personalities also paid tribute to the departed soul at the condolence meeting.
