BHARAT Samskriti Pratishthan, an outfit of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, celebrated the birth anniversary of great saint Kanakadas at his birth place in Kaginele under Haveri district of Karnataka on December 3. The function was inaugurated by Dr Mahesh Joshi, director of Doordarshan Begaluru. The VHP has been celebrating Kanakadas Jayanti since the year 2001, along with a Sangeet festival. This year nearly, 700 musicians, 50 Gamaka artists and more than 500 Bhajan singers participated in the function, making the event a melodious one. The great saint Kanakadas is known for his lyrics in praise of Lord Krishna. Dr TS Satyavati, noted social activist, was felicitated on the occasion with Kanaka Prabha award.
