R Guru Prasad
MUSLIM youth, allegedly belonging to the Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD), assaulted a 23 year old Muslim girl, Deeba Algani, and brutally  thrashed a 37 year old Hindu man, Dharmendra,  on November 7 at Karmar in  Bajpe on the outskirts of Mangalore.

The incident took place around 8 pm and Muslim youths continuously beat up   the Hindu man  till 10 pm till some passerby alerted the police. Before fleeing, the gang allegedly robbed Rs 3.7 lakh cash  and a mobile phone.

Zubeida (mother of Deeba)  and few other relatives went to Mangalore to purchase home appliances for their new house. They had requested Dharmendra, their family friend,  to search  the  new house and Dharmendra had promptly helped them in finding  the a new house on lease.  Zubeida had requested Dharmendra to meet them in the shopping mall to collect the lease amount. After purchasing few electronic durables, Zubeida requested Dharmendra to drop Deeba home in his car as her car was stuffed  with the materials purchased.

According to Zubeida, both the cars left simultaneously but her car went ahead and the car in which Deeba Algani and Dharmendra were travelling was intercepted near an isolated place near Bajpe  by a strong team consisting of  20 Muslims, who were following them on their bikes. Miscreants dragged them out and abused them with filthy language before physically attacking. “Why are you travelling in a car belong to a Hindu?”, “Can’t you find a Muslim boy to roam around?” were some of the questions posed to Deeba. Angry mob turned violent and trashed Dharmendra black and blue injuring him seriously. Deeba  was admitted to Government Wenlock Hospital and Dharmendra is undergoing treatment in a private hospital.

It can be recalled that KFD, merged with the Kerala based Popular Front of India (PFI) on November 22, 2006, following a massive crackdown on Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). Recently, two Hindu youth were kidnapped and later murdered by KFD and  Karnataka police had arrested the alleged KFD members Adil alias Adil Pasha, 23, Athavulla Khan, 23 (both residents of Hunsur), Ameen alias Syed Ameen, 23, Rehman alias Shabbir Rehaman (25), Kouser alias Mohammed Kouser, 26, and Safeer Ahmed alias Safeer, 34 (all four residents of Rajiv Nagar in Mysore).
