GADKARI LAUNCHES ATAL SCHOOL UNIFORM SCHEME

Will benefit 9 lakh students

From Our Correspondent

On May 9 BJP national president Nitin Gadkari launched the state level Atal School Uniform Scheme in the presence of a massive crowd in the Sirmaur district town of Nahan. He congratulated the Dhumal government for giving special attention towards spread of education in the State.

The scheme is likely to benefit over 9 lakh students studying in government schools up to Class X out of which beneficiaries will be 4,63,680 boys and 4,63,525 girls. It will erase the socio-economic discrimination between the rich and poor children as everyone will don the same dress.

Uniforms will be provided to all students in government schools free of cost twice a year at a cost of Rs 64 crore. Each student will also be given Rs 100 as stitching charges every time.

BJP government has introduced various scholarship schemes like the Dr Ambedkar Meritorious Scholarship Scheme under which 4,000 meritorious students of the Class XII level are being given a scholarship of Rs 10,000 each year. From this year, 4,000 laptops will be given to students of Class XI on the basis of their performance in Class X.

Dhumal government has constituted a State Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission to ensure quality education and Himachal is the first state in the country to do so. It has also enacted the anti-ragging Act, besides setting up anti-ragging committees in educational institutions.

Shri Gadkari exhorted the party workers to work unitedly to realise the aim of repeating the Dhumal government once again followed by achieving the 2014 mission to put BJP led NDA government in power at the Centre.

BJP national vice president Shri Shanta Kumar congratulated Prof. Dhumal for launching this innovative scheme for the benefit of school children coming from every section of society.

On this occasion BJP State incharge Shri Kalraj Mishra, Co-incharge Shri Shyam Jaju, National General Secretary Shri JP Nadda, MP, BJP State President Shri Satpal Satti, Shimla MP Shri Virendra Kashyap, Members of BJP council of ministers, many MLAs, State and District office-bearers were present.
