“Rising above caste-based discrimination, we need to build a society with stability and integrity. Social harmony can be achieved by unity, keeping the diversity unaffected,” said veteran social worker and thinker Shri Kajampady Subrahmanya Bhat. He was delivering the valedictory speech at Samarasya Goshti (Social Harmony Meet) held at Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple at Agalpady in Kasaragod on February 11.

“Society so far has acknowledged a person for his contribution for mankind and not for his caste. Person’s contribution matters, never his caste or colour. Vyasa, who wrote Mahabharata was not a Brahmin. He belonged to a fishermen’s family. Valmiki was also not a Brahmin. Sri Ram and Lord Krishna too were not Brahmins. We remember them by their contributions, not by from where they came from,” added Shri Kajampady Bhat.

The Samarasya Goshti was inaugurated by Vedamoorthi Brahmashree Delampady Balakrishna Tantri. Shri Vadiraj, Samarasya Vedike State convenor for Karnataka, stressed the need of social harmony. Shri Rajesh Padmar delivered the key-note address.

Shri Vasanth Pai Badiadka, Shri Meenaru Padmanabha Shetty, Shri Gopal Chettiyar, Shri Dinesh Kasaragod, Shri Uppangala Vasudeva Bhat and Shri Ramachandra Bhat Uppangala were also present at the meet. A total of 118 participants representing different socio-religious sectors attended the meet.
