Manan Chaturvedi of Surman Sansthan to be honoured with Prof. Yeshwantrao Kelkar Youth Award

Smt Manan Chaturvedi of Surman Sansthan, Jaipur, has been selected for Prof. Yeshwantrao Kelkar Youth Award for the year 2011. Smt Chaturvedi is being felicitated for her outstanding services to the rehabilitation of destitute children. The Award will be presented by former Chief Justice of Supreme Court Justice Shri RC Lahoti at the 57th national convention of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad to be held in New Delhi in January 4. The Award, presented annually to a youth for his/her outstanding services by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, consists of cash prize of Rs 50,000, citation and a memento. The Award was instituted in 1991 and till now 20 social activists have been honoured. Last year the Award was presented to Shri Anand Kumar of Bihar.

Smt Manan Chaturvedi runs an orphanage in the name of Surman Sansthan in Jaipur. It is a place where the orphans, destitute and neglected children are provided love, affection and dignity. It was started about eight years ago. Presently there are over 60 children (from 8 months to 15 years) in the Sansthan which is run in a small flat in Jaipur. She is trying to rehabilitate widows-destitute and single ladies under the project called ‘Koshish’ (Effort).        (FOC)
