Kalyan Ashram to conduct countrywide health camps for Vanvasis?
Karyakari Mandal meeting of Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram concluded in Guwahati on October 21. The meeting was inaugurated by Kalyan Ashram president Shri Jagdevram Oraon and vice presidents Shri Moren Singh Purty and Shri Jaleshwar Brahma in the presence of general secretary Shri Gunwant Singh Kothari, joint general secretary Shri Kripa Prasad Singh on October 16.
The Karyakari Mandal decided to organise health camps across the country covering all districts, blocks and maximum villages of Vanvasis. Surgery camps, cataract operation and camps for chronic deceases will also be organised under this campaign. Dr Pankaj Bhatia, incharge of health services said that more than 50 lakh patients are expected to be treated in the camps.
A campaign for tree plantation will also be taken up from May 2012 to mark the 60th year of Kalyan Ashram and birth centenary of its founder Balasaheb Despande. Incharge of the campaign Shri Kripa Prasad Singh pointed out that one crore saplings would be planted by the Kalyan Ashram activists.
The year 2011 is being observed as Sports Year and a National Tribal Sports Festival will be organised from December 28 to 2011 to January 2, 2012 in Pune. Separate meetings of all the wings including women, hitraksha, education, hostels and arrangement were also organised. Shri Ashokbhai Bhansali and Smt Sheetal Ben attended the meeting to support the sewa activities of the Ashram all over the country.
Since village development is prominent aspect of the Kalyan Ashram work, a new concept, cow-based economy, has been started. Shri Ashok Bhansali assured support to the new scheme. The Bhansali Trust is supplying vegetable seeds to the State units for Vanvasis. At present 16,278 sewa projects at 11,560 places are being run all over the country. A total of 1,036 full time workers and 294 vistaraks are active in these areas.
