SHRUTI Sewa Trust, Coimbatore, conferred ‘Aarsha Kula Ratnam’ award to Samskrit Bharati on July 22 for its vision, dedication and tireless efforts in popularising the Sanskrit among common men. The award was presented by Swamy Dayanand Saraswati. Baba Ramdev and RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat were also present on the dais. The award consists of Rs 5 lakh and a citation. On behalf of the Samskrit Bharati, its general secretary Shri Chamu Krishna Shastry received the award.
The award has been instituted by the Shruti Seva Trust to commemorate the Shatabhishekam of its founder Swamy Dayanand Saraswati to be conferred on an organisation which has made a phenomenal contribution for the promotion of any aspect of Aarsha Vidya throughout Bharat. Promotion of conversational Sanskrit is a big contribution of Samskrit Bharati. Therefore, the first award of the year 2011 was presented to Samskrit Bharati. The organisation has developed two Sanskrit villages, 1,500 Sanskrit Grihani and taught unreccordable number of people how to speak Sanskrit. The Sanskrit speaking people are not necessarily educated and many have learnt subjects other than Sanskrit. Many are agriculturists, technicians, doctors, advocates, CAs, engineers, teachers, housewives, etc.
