THE author-poet of this compilation of verses is a culturally enlightened and patriotic creator. He has intense faith in India’s cultural tradition. In reality culture has a close connection with Nature. The entire universe is a part of Nature. As Nature is present both within and outside man, poet Aadeesh through his extensive capability makes earth, water, air and other five panchbhutas his subject for creativity and these include even a non-entity like a boat, and the sea, the waves and other aspects apart from the heart, knowledge, pride, anger, worry, jealousy, violence – the finer sensibilities in humankind.

He writes a beautiful poem on the environment, titled Parayavaran. He says:

Keval yug badla nahin, badli sari reet

Mausam badlega sabhi, hota yahi abhishap

Apni pidhi ko laga, yeh kaisa abhishap

Jal jal-jalkar, him ban galta tap.

In this poem, the poet says that not only an era but all the traditional practices have altered. It seems that the entire weather will soon undergo a change. Our generation is witnessing such a curse that water has become ash after burning, while the Himalayas have become molten heat. It is extremely cold in summers and it rains during the winters; and the breeze blows from the wrong direction leading to tragedies.

In the poem titled Bachpan (Childhood), the poet says, that with the break of dawn, childhood passed in carrying a donkey’s burden, in sleeping and fun and frolic. Childhood has been lost and so has been the pickle to give way to the corrupt stage of youth, which takes away the child-like innocence away.

Admirers of Hindi poetry have to read the book to grasp the nuances and to savour the beauty of the poet’s creative genius.

(Pratibha Pratishthan, 1661, Dakhni Rai Street, Netaji Subhash Marg, New Delhi-110 002)
