SHRI S Gurumurthy, national co-convener of Swadeshi Jagaran Manch, alleged that Sonia Gandhi and UPA government that have vested interest in protecting corruption, can never take action for prosecuting those who have stashed money in tax havens in foreign countries. “When they themselves have their money in foreign countries how can they be expected to act to disclose the names of those having illegal foreign accounts,” he asked the jam-packed Speaker’s Hall at Constitution Club in New Delhi on May 24. He was speaking at a symposium organised by Swadeshi Jagaran Manch on the issue of ‘corruption and black money parked abroad by high profile politicians’.

Listing the case of Hasan Ali, he said everyone knew whose money Hasan Ali played with. When his name is closely associated with Congress leaders and Sonia’s most trusted lieutenant Ahmed Patel, one cannot expect action on this front. It is only after the court supervision in 2011 that the government agencies have started acting. But the period between 2007 and 2011 has given Ali and his patrons four years to hide the money somewhere else. Shri Gurumurthy was commenting on the statement of Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee that there was no money in Hasan Ali’s accounts. How could it be? he asked.

Shri Gurumurthy stressed that the fight against corruption has to happen at the political level. He lamented that the opposition was not fighting this battle. The fight has to be ideological and between the good and evil and not essentially between the good people and the evil people. The evil of corruption is funding global terror and causing poor people to fund rich people. Where the global GDP increased only by 80 per cent the personal wealth of the Very High Networth Individuals increased by 475 per cent.

Making astonishing revelation on the protection being given to the people who have black money parked abroad, he pointed out to an affidavit by then IPS officer in the Supreme Court, Ashok Desh Bratar. The affidavit named three Chief Ministers and people at the PMO being hands in gloves with these people.

Presiding over the function former LG of Delhi Shri Vijay Kapoor brought forward the issue of not only averting the issue but diverting the issue on various disguise. He explained that the present law is effective enough to fight the present form of corruption. He told the gathering that the present government has no intention of booking corrupt people although it has substantial proofs against them.

Shri Murlidhar Rao, former convener of Swadeshi Jagaran Manch, stressed on the need of government to take action on the present charges and come clean over the issue of corruption. He stressed the need of action plan and not plain speaks as it is happening with the current government.

Charity begins at home was the message been given by Shri Baijnath Rai of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh.
