THE Centre for Human Rights & Justice organised a seminar in New Delhi on ‘Misuse of Criminal Justice System: Violating Human Rights’ on April 29. The seminar was attended by people from diverse sections of the society who are plagued by the criminal justice system.
Speaking on the occasion former Union Minister Dr Subramanian Swamy targeted the UPA government for the misuse of investigative agencies. The misuse, he said is in two dimensions, one is in the prevention of investigation while the other is related to targeting the opposition forces. For example, Dr Swamy pointed out that unless the court intervened, the investigative agencies refused to conduct investigations in 2G spectrum and Hasan Ali cases.
Dr Swamy also stated that no investigation has been carried out into the matter of Rahul Gandhi being caught by FBI at the Boston airport with $1,65,000 and in the rape charges levelled against him by Ms Sukanya. Similarly, charges of Sonia Gandhi holding KGB money and smuggling Indian antiques have not been inquired into. On the other hand there are attempts to discredit some RSS leaders and somehow to link them with the terror plots when the whole world knows that Samjhauta Express blasts were carried out by Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT). Senior leader Prof Arif Mohd Baig also spoke on the occasion.
Former Union Minister Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar called upon the youth and the lawyers to provide leadership against corruption and not to leave it to some individuals. He said the emasculation of constitutional institutions has resulted in undeclared Emergency. He pointed out that Human rights can flourish in only the corruption-free society. He expressed concern over the nationalist forces being targeted by the present dispensation.
Noted political personality Sadhvi Uma Bharati took the government to task on allegations of Hindu terror. She said during the Malegaon blasts, Col Purohit and RP Singh had planned to assassinate RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat and senior RSS leader Shri Indresh Kumar, but the government has not investigated those terror plots; not even an FIR has been registered. He said while 26/11 perpetrator Kasab is enjoying all comforts, the Indian government is torturing Hindu saints like Swami Aseemanand and Sadhvi Pragya. She also referred to the case of Deepak Patidar who was taken away by Maharashtra ATS and has been untraceable since then.
