IN order to take the 2G spectrum and other scams involving Congress and UPA leaders to public, the BJP on May 5 launched a countrywide campaign. Formally launching the campaign in New Delhi BJP national president Shri Nitin Gadkari said the BJP would expose the Congress corruption and its attempts to shield the corrupts.

Named as “2G Ghotale ka Sach, Sansad se Janata Tak” the campaign will educate the countrymen about the Congress attempts to prevent the truth of its huge corruption coming out.

Addressing the party workers at packed Mavlankar Hall, senior BJP leader and Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Dr Murli Manohar Joshi said the Congress does not believe in democracy and parliamentary system. It again wants to take the country on the path of Emergency. “Congress Party and the UPA Government are trying to cover up corruption. But the BJP will not allow them to succeed in their game plan. The truth of bungling has come out and it will be taken to every person of the country. We will fight from Parliament to the streets on this issue,” Dr Joshi declared.

Explaining the 2G spectrum bungling to the party workers in a systemic manner Dr Joshi pointed out that in the year 2003 it was decided that any decision on the spectrum would be taken jointly by Finance Ministry and the Communication Ministry. Prime Minister was well aware of it. But he deliberately ignored the suggestion of the Finance Ministry for auction and allowed the Communication Ministry to adopt the policy of ‘first come first serve’ thereby allowing loot of the public money.

Rubbishing the allegation of presenting a ‘motivated’ report, Dr Joshi said the PAC report must be presented in Parliament. “They have no right to hold this report,” he said. Referring to Congress leader Pawan Bansal’s comment of throwing away the PAC report in dustbin, Dr Joshi asked if the Parliament enacts a law or the court delivers a judgement on this issue could they throw that too in the dustbin? “They tried to do it during the seventies and then saw the result also. The Prime Minister and the Home Minister must explain to the nation do they believe in democracy and parliamentary system? Why the PM is silent over the misdeeds of his colleagues? It is beyond any doubt that the PMO is directly involved in the 2G scam. If they throw the PAC report in dustbin today, the public will throw them in the same dustbin tomorrow. We shall, create an atmosphere in the country that the government will be forced to table the PAC report in the Parliament,” Dr Joshi said. He added that the UPA government had made a ‘failed attempt’ to cover up corruption by disrupting the PAC’s functioning and was playing politics on the issue.

Shri Nitin Gadkari said 50 per cent of the population in the country is hungry and the Congress leaders are busy in amassing wealth. “Government and the people associated with it are looting the country from all sides. Smt Sonia Gandhi and Dr Manmohan Singh are making all efforts that truth should not come out at any cost. But BJP will bring the truth before the nation in any condition,” he said requesting the PAC Chairman Dr Joshi to inquire into the report of the CAG on Civil Aviation Ministry also.

He alleged that the disruption created by the Congress leaders in PAC meeting was on the instructions of Smt Sonia Gandhi and Dr Manmohan Singh. Commenting on the role of Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party leaders on PAC issue he said it has now fully been exposed who is with corrupts and who is against. “Both these parties must explain why they changed their stand on corruption in the last minutes. BJP is committed to make the country corruption-free and we shall fight for it with our full might. The money being looted by Congress leaders is of the public and it should be spent only for their welfare,” he said.

Earlier, former Union Finance Minister Shri Yashwant Sinha, who is now member of the JPC on the 2G scam, demanded a CBI probe against Union Home Minister P Chidambaram for his alleged role in the 2G spectrum scam. “The then Finance Minister P Chidambaram is directly responsible for this scam. Till he does not come under the CBI investigation, the whole truth will not come out,” he said adding that “now this fight (on 2G scam) will go to the JPC and we are ready for this fight.”

Shri Sinha informed the gathering that Congress has become a group of thieves and the BJP would not spare them. “The party will convey the truth of 2G spectrum bungling to the common man. Although the highly placed corrupt persons of spectrum bungling are free, they will have to go behind bars soon,” he said.

Delhi State BJP president Shri Vijender Gupta presided over the meeting.
